I have not been able to compare them directly, but I will get the R5 soon and hopefully I can find a DX160 to demo.
The DX160 3.5mm output has a triple function, HP out, LO and coaxial.

hiby offers spdif coaxial too, just need a usb-c to coaxial cable . i think it’s partner Cayin sells a quite ok one with good length.

I have an R3. Is there a "huge" or just "somewhat-noticeable" SQ-difference between R3 and R5 (i.e clarity/details)?

Does R5 have "search" functionality for songs now?

Also, my IEM (massdrop plus) has 10 ohms at 1 kHz impedance and from HiBy website, the specs says "Headphone Impedance Range: 16~300Ω". Does this mean my IEM is not recommended for R5?

Mine is 9 ohms and is fine. From memory with the R3, I'm going to say it's a very significant upgrade and worth the dosh just on sq alone.

I would say there's a significant difference in SQ between the R3 and the R5.

Yes, it does have a search capability for songs/artists/everything now in HiBy music.

Unboxing on the gold variant HiBy R5. In terms of SQ which is the main thing I care, I agree with @Mouseman. The R5 is significantly better than R3. I will do a full write-up soon. Enjoy & Happy Listening, as always!

If you search the thread, there's already a short comparison with the 160, and a couple of the zx300. If you're talking sound wise, I prefer the sound of the r5 to the zx300- a bit more neutral, more holographic, and more power.

I'll try it mate, but it's not on playstore or apkpure. I take it I must do it off their website.

I installed it, but everytime I try to play a song it does nothing, or says it can't play song. Horrible permissions! And everything's in Chinese, is there another version?
