R5 saber is coming out
When I Googled y the term I also saw Hiby R3 SaberDoes the Chinese state the term saber? I just saw R5S
BothDo you mean R3 or R5? They are different models....
Dhamasteve noted that the part numbers on that Chinese ad were not Saber parts.
What are "saber" parts anyway??Do you mean R3 or R5? They are different models....

They are seemingly using an old advert still showing the CS43198 chip. That's a Cirrus chip and has nothing to do with Saber. Maybe they will put the correct specs up soon. Here’s an Australian pre-order page, in English

however the chip info is the same.
Sabre is line of DAC mfg by ESS. The standard R3 Pro and R5 use Cirrus Logic DACs. The Sabre version of the R3 Pro used a Sabre DAC, otherwise I believe it was the same. Sounds like they’re doing the same thing with the R5.What are "saber" parts anyway??

The biggest problem I have with the R5 is the bluetooth signal could be more powerful, other than hoping I don't get a battery bulge I'm pretty pleased with it.
Wonder if they'll address that with the Sabre.
I’ve been going back and forth on ordering the R5 but am really concerned about the battery issue. I don’t even know what I would do with it if it happened, sounds like a bad idea to mail it back in such a state.I’m surprised that HiBy is updating the R5 already. I wonder if the primary change is the ESS dac(s)? @Joe Bloggs, can you shed any light on why HiBy is changing the R6 and R5 to newer 2020 versions? Are the changes purely the dacs used or are there other enhancements over the original models?
