R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby

Some of you recommended me some IEM to pair with R5, but no purchase has been done.
Now that all my over-ear headphones are in 4.4mm balanced connection I want to have the IEM in same setup.
Which one fits well with R5? Budget under $350, classic & progressive rock and jazz guitar listenings.
Thanks (again) in advance.

The Mangird Tea, a 6BA/1DD hybrid that sells for $299 can be ordered with a 4.4mm connector and works very nicely with the R5. This is a mid-centric design, not the typical V shaped that is so prevalent these days.

Yeah, I don’t have them but the Mangird got a rave review by Crinnacle.
I am waiting to see how the LZ A7 turns out. I haven’t own a LZ pair in a while. That man knows how to tune and is not afraid of solid but not overbearing bass. I like a mild L shape on the bass.

Actually, it was BGGAR that raved about the Tea placing it in his S tier. Crinacle placed it in his C tier.

Just goes to show how subjective this hobby of ours is.

Oops sorry. The $299 unit that Crinnacle liked was the Moondrop Blessing 2. Not the Mangird Tea. I pay little attention to BGGAR; can't stand the rambling.

Personally I am waiting to see how the LZ works out.

I've just noticed all content on Tidal played via their app is showing as 352.8. hmmm whats going on here?

It seems the current goal of MQA is to totally obfuscate what is actually happening during playback. From a recent update from Fiio: "When playing MQA tracks, the status bar will display the original sample rates of the MQA track instead of the playing sample rates after fully unfolding, as requested by the MQA licensor". I don't know if this applies to Hiby.

It seems the MQA gods want to display the original source quality, regardless of what is actually playing on the DAP/DAC. I guess the format will ultimately get what it deserves. I know I don't trust it.

Hey, do you guys think that the R5 will be noticeable downgrade after Cayin N6 mk2 (A01, T01)?
I just need a pocket size DAP, mqa capable. Looks like the R5 is a good candidate.
I did not like the sound of AK SR15 (emphasized lows and mids). Reading some reviews I see that the R5 is more neutral/linear than the SR15.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

I just ordered a 512gb micro sd card for my R5. I really only want it to save tidal and qobuz offline content. Anything I need to know or anything required to direct saving those files to the sd card? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

is r5 no longer been made? black and silver been OOS for a while now

HiBy just had a sale, so its stock on certain colors was depleted. There has been conversation here about an R5 Pro, but another member here contacted Musicteck, the distributor, and was told there are no plans for an updated R5 as of now.
