@Questyle Can you share any information about the M18i?
Just over the weekend they had a listening event in Beijing in collaboration with Sennheiser, where the owner explained the development of the M18i and attendees could trial it either with their own gear or a range of Sennheiser IEMs and headphones on site. They posted about it on their WeChat channel, although I don’t think there were any particular details revealed that weren’t already out. There were a few pics from the event:

First Questyle dongle with dual DACs so I’m intrigued. I also wonder if this will just cannabalize their sales of the CMA18p, given both have Bluetooth and battery power. Maybe they’ll have slightly different tuning, like the M15c and M15i.

It’s a good powerful Dac Amp Class A warm sound, but the MuseHifi X5 has a better value and a very surprising sound with its tubes option, however it will not be suitable for hard driving Headphones.
You mean M18i or CMA18?

Industry | M18i flagship small tail preheating demonstration, Questyle world-class sound new product tasting meeting in Guangzhou was successfully held

Original Three-eared man Three Ears Studio December 9, 2024 10:15
Last weekend, the Questyle Audio New Product Tasting Conference was held in Guangzhou at Tianyu Lianda Audio Museum. The event was hosted by @Joy_c, the guest host of the event, and Questyle CEO Mr. Wang Fengshuo personally attended the event to share in detail. In the nearly two-hour sharing, Mr. Wang Fengshuo shared with the audiophiles and media present the upcoming new product M18i small tail, the technical features, design ideas and future product planning of the Questyle Audio brand, and the interesting stories in the development process of the M18i small tail.

Joy_c introduced that he has been in contact with Kuangshi products since the brand was founded and witnessed the continuous growth of Kuangshi. Recently, Kuangshi has become an Apple-certified MFi ecological chain enterprise and an official partner of Huawei, Qualcomm, ESS, Focal and other brands, which shows the high level of Kuangshi's technical accumulation and production chain strength in the industry. Not only that, from the perspective of a player and commentator, Joy_c also introduced the benefits of Apple's MFi certification's high requirements in real-world applications in terms of power consumption, connection stability and shielding performance. Whether for Apple or Android phone users, MFi-certified devices are still practical today.

Mr. Wang, CEO of Kuangshi, outlined the original intention of designing the M18i small tail. For music lovers who are picky about sound quality, the original intention of Kuangshi to design the M18i is to develop a decoder that is small and portable, has outstanding sound quality, can be used with mobile phones, and completely say goodbye to the compromised listening experience. In terms of configuration, the Questyle M18i uses two sets of four, Questyle's selected "current mode" patented amplifier SiP modules, taking into account both strong driving force and delicate sound.

The ESS flagship Combo DAC ES9219Q chip is selected, with a dual DAC mono decoding design, and a TTA (Three-Tier Architecture) decoding architecture that matches desktop devices. It is like the "front and back stage" configuration in a high-end audio system, and is equipped with four sets of Questyle's patented current mode amplifier SiP modules. In the AP test, it can output 23.21mW under a 300 ohm load, with a distortion of only 0.0002%, and a peak output current of 1.5A. The M18i small tail once again challenges the sound quality limit of portable devices.

The M18i supports USB DAC & dual-mode lossless Bluetooth switching, which is convenient for users to choose freely. The 16-core XMOS 316 USB platform is fully compatible with mobile phones, PCs, and game consoles. In addition, the M18i has also passed Apple's MFi license, meeting Apple's strict comprehensive requirements for power consumption and compatibility of external devices. In terms of Bluetooth, the M18i has obtained Qualcomm Snapdragon Audio certification and can support mainstream Bluetooth protocols such as Sony LDAC, aptX, aptx HD, aptx Adaptive, LDAC, and LE Audio.

In response to the demand for "one device for multiple uses", the M18i also supports mobile phone mode and PC mode through dual USB interfaces. In mobile phone mode, the audio USB port only transmits data, and the M18i's built-in battery is used for power supply, which is consistent with Bluetooth connection; in PC mode, the audio USB port can simultaneously transmit data, charge the battery, and power the system. In addition, the M18i has a built-in energy management system to effectively ensure that the system circuit is adequately powered and extend the battery life.

Not only that, M18i also selects Infineon's flagship microphone and Qualcomm cVc Generation 8.0 call solution with ClearVoice Capture technology, which can not only handle call needs while enjoying music, but also maintain clear voice quality and stability, with a pickup coverage range of within 2 meters. I have briefly listened to the M18i on site. My first impression is that this model has made further progress in terms of overall sense of space and control. It is closer to the feeling of an independent player than the previous few Kuangshi models. The familiar delicate and exquisite sound impression of Kuangshi is still maintained.

After introducing the new products, Mr. Wang of Kuangshi also reviewed the many masterpieces released since its establishment in 2012. The products cover portable players, desktop systems, and "hi-end" "golden four-piece set" and other "willful works". Details such as the materials used in PCB are also the links that Kuangshi pays attention to. At the same time, Mr. Wang also revealed that the brand will release several new products in the future.

It is reported that the price of the Kuangshi M18i small tail will be officially announced at the Guangzhou Headphone Exhibition this week. After listening to it, many friends at the tasting event guessed that the price would start with 300,000 yuan. We look forward to whether the officially released price will be more surprising. Saner will also bring detailed test sharing in the future.
