So what’s the overall verdict on the ERA-1 and how it compares to other planars in the price range? The LCD-2C is basically the same price. Is the ERA-1 just a different sound signature and you can’t really say which is superior or is the ERA-1 better from a technical, comfort and build standpoint?

PhilW described ERA-1 as a planar Focal Clear and I second his viewpoint. So far, I think ERA-1 can compete LCD-2C in the price range. The sound signature is quite different and the choice depends on one's favorite.
About build quality, the yoke is plastic and headband seem not genuine leather. I have no more complain except these two shortcomings.

I was wondering the same thing. And they have already been reviewed in HiFi News in UK.

The HIFI news article is just explaining what comes in the package not a review on the sound.
There are no reviews on sound at present because they are not available to have and the dates given on websites for delivery are still not confirmed dates.

Saw he ERA-1 listed on the distributor's website then asked a local dealer about the availability. Few days later I got a phone call and they had one for me to purchase.

They should be available in most distributors to purchase on Friday 24th Aug.

I wouldn't recommend buying Ether unless you hear it personally. No open, nor closed version worth its price in my humble opinion. They should be available in most distributors to purchase on Friday 24th Aug.

Owned MrSpeakers Mad Dos, Alpha Dog and tried Ether C. EAR-1 would be my choice if I can only pick one among these four.
