Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

Qobuz really needs to do a better job of addressing errors in their catalog.

About 4 weeks ago I emailed customer support to inform them that a newly listed classical album from Brilliant Classics had a webpage on Qobuz.com that 404'd when you clicked on the link. The album also didn't show up it in the streaming app. So I get a reply back from a Qobuz dude assuring me that the issue would be "forwarded to the appropriate department and taken care of". That was a month ago. The album webpage is still 404'd and the album still doesn't show up in the app.

Today I came across another recent album. This time on the Kairos label. One of the tracks is defective. It has a track timing of 00:00. It supposed to be an 11 minute track. Tidal has the album with no problems but Qobuz messed it up somehow.

I would expect Qobuz to manage their catalog better. You would think that they would have an automated script that scans their catalog for errant files with 00:00 timings. That seems like an obvious red flag you'd want to look for. Then when a problem is pointed out to them Qobuz rarely, in my experience, addresses the problem. There's albums with defective tracks that I contacted cust serv about years ago that never got fixed.

Getting some absurdly high CPU usage with the Qobuz app on macOS 11. Streaming any hi-res track brings my 2020 quad-core i5 to a screeching halt. Lowering the quality to CD (16/44.1) seems to help a lot, but this sort of defeats the purpose! I've sent a customer support ticket but wanted to see if this is a known problem.

Edit- Looks like the web player on Chrome supports Hi-Res (not on Safari though) without running my CPU into the ground. I'll use that until the desktop app is fixed. Windows app fortunately isn't giving me any trouble, so I can take advantage of exclusive mode when on that machine.

Hi everyone!

I have a question regarding Qobuz on AK SR15.

Subscribed recently, and i am enjoying their catalogue and sound quality. I use offline listening a lot, and i have imported roughly 270 tracks onto my device.
Upon installing the APK onto my AK SR15, i have made sure than all downloads go to SD card (128GB SanDisk)

Today, i ran into the error where all of my offline songs are unplayable. I could not play any of them at all. I can see them on the list, but nothing is playable. When i try to play, i get this error.

"it is impossible to play this track. Thank you for trying another playback format or a different tracK"

I spent another 4 hours to re-import everything. After about 30 minutes of playback, the same error happened, and all my imported tracks are gone again.

When i checked the storage settings, it seems that the Qobuz app reverted to internal storage, and all my songs are now gone.

The APK version i am using is 5.16.1.5, which is the latest one.

Is there a problem with my APK? Is there a stable version for the Qobuz APK that plays well with the AK SR15?

I rejoined Qobuz a year later and was surprised to find the stutter issue of their desktop app (mac/pc) was still unresolved...
Came back to Qobuz and found the stutter issue was finally resolved in both Mac and Windows apps. No regrets from unsubscribing from TIDAL and all of those MQA nonsense!

Just going to leave this here if anyone is interested, from 2019. Curiously, the 2020 chart left Qobuz off entirely. Makes my enjoyment just a bit better. I know there are more factors involved due to scale, reach, etc. But still, very nice.

Right now I once again am trying Qobuz, trying to decide wether to keep Tidal or Qobuz. I absolutely hate the way Qobuz searches and recommends playlists. Tidal is drastically better at this. But I like the high res flac better then mqa for many songs. Following that I like Tidals cd quality better then Qobuz cd quality for many songs. Both have different songs that I like while the other has some missing. Strange how the same song can be not available on one service but available on the other. Qobuz is cheaper then Tidal. Tidal mqa songs take up less space on daps then flac. Not all my dacs play mqa with unfolds. So I keep going back and forth, how has everyone’s experience been with reliability and usability with Qobuz?
I will not be using Roon.
Qobuz sounds better but Tidal has a much better app. As most of my listening is done in the home I can use Roon but that is not practical for everyone. I would 100% be using Tidal if I had to use the Qobuz app.

I prefer to not use either of them. Audirvana on my desktop + feeding my 2 channel, and UAPP for portables. I use their apps on my phone to quickly find and organize, but never to actually play files. They are both bad. Tidal's constant and incessant advertising and them keeping my content as far away from me as possible (so many clicks) when I boot it up, and Qobuz's discovery features not existing hardly at all. I do like how I can quickly get to my music in Qobuz and they aren't advertising the latest Jay-Z or Jay-Z partner BS constantly. But I like listening to albums in their entirety mostly and don't appreciate playlist "suggestions" hardly ever. ymmv

Ok, so on a Qobuz trial as I'm no longer left with any MQA devices. All going ok until a bit of a What moment - I cannot seem to sort my favourite albums by release date???? What the heck!?! Sound quality is good, but this is a bit of a head scratcher.

If you use 3rd party players on Android, some have the feature. I am sorting in Qobuz by release date in UAPP, for example. Weird that the meta is there, but the parent app has no option? But then again, I contacted them about profile pics and they said they were adding the feature in an upcoming release. I was tired of looking at the blank person icon. Its a small quibble, but I want to fully move in and that omission makes it feel less "mine". I expect their app will get more features in time? Write them and get your wants registered, at least.

Long time streamer here. First started with Spotify, briefly tried Apple Music, then stayed using Tidal for a while, until my new speakers only allowed for Deezer. Once found Roon, went back to Tidal. Due to the recent debacle over MQA, I switched over to Qobuz, being worried that their catalogue would be too small, as when I was testing some songs a year or so back, I could not find everything. This being said, have been using Qobuz now for more than two weeks and really enjoying what I hear. Roon comes to rescue with track recommendation, as no other streaming service has as good recommendation as Spotify or Deezer for my taste in music.
