Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

Feb 7, 2019 at 3:04 PM Post #421 of 2,205
I have had a free account for years but I just signed into it with Facebook and started my one month free trial after they emailed me the beta link .
The interface is not as good as my Deezer nor do they have as much content as Deezer and Deezer has flac at a pretty good quality but I've been wanting Qobuz for the ability to buy high Resolution Albums that I will definitely keep but Deezer has things like Lyrics that atleast on the beta Qobuz does not have gapless playback which I hope it is in the full version

What are you saying here exactly? Qobuz has no gapless playback?

I'm on the Qobuz US beta and I have gapless playback on both desktop and mobile apps.
Not on my iMac
And no Radiohead that's a bummer Deezer has every album .
Qobuz told me I needed another app to play gapless - mconnect
It does have gapless on my phone but im kinda surprised how many tracks and full albums that are not available on Qobuz.
Lot of Qobuz is not high resolution but at least they are CD quality

Radiohead is distributed by a supplier we are still in the process of onboarding for the US. Should have it within the next few weeks. For gapless playback make sure you have the latest versions of the apps. It is pretty much fixed across the board.

I guess the 53 million tracks on Deezer seems to be much more substantial than Qobuz's 40 million .
Atleast it gives you the option to purchase albums something Deezer does not have .

But I will likely be keeping both the Deezer app is better than anything I've used such as tidal , Spotify Apple ,and Google or Qobuz .

I'm hoping Qobuz gets better after the beta

I'm only having gapless issues on my iMac but I've been waiting for Qobuz forever so I'm in for 6 months for sure and Tool has a problem with streaming services because they feel their albums should be played all at once maybe if Qobuz could just sell complete high resolution albums they could get a band that no streaming service has .

I own every Radiohead Album and have converted them to flac so I can wait .
Is lyrics ever going to be offered ?
It's not a big deal but it is kind of entertaining.

I got gapless to work on the iMac but out of the first 20 albums I've added to my favorites only 6 are High Resolution but it is CD quality which is as good as it gets on Deezer.

If I decide to drop Deezer lossless I still have the family 6 person plan with Deezer that is just for my wife and adult children and my account is lossless and theirs is 320 MP3 and my wife likes Deezer because of the lyrics and my son hated it at first because he liked Spotify but my wife gets what she wants and since I'm paying he can live with it

But I'm the only one that cares about lossless or high resolution and iveI been waiting forever for Qobuz so I likely will keep that because I've converted thousands of albums to flac and if Qobuz does not have it I most likely already own it

I guess you had (like me) one of the two-month preview trials that Qobuz was giving away at audio shows last year. You can join the US beta if you'd like — sign up for the waitlist on their website and it takes 1-2 weeks to receive an invitation. If you want to use the same e-mail as on your previous trial, you can use the trick described here, or else contact their customer service and ask them to convert your previous trial (UK) account to a US account — I did this and they resolved it within a day.
I'm going to give this a try. Thanks very much.

@turbomustang84 You should use some interpunction in your posts, it would make your posts much more readable.
I was using my iPhone 4s and it's so tiny and my eyesight is so bad I can hardly see what I'm writing lol.

I will try to do better .

I haven't read this thread, so apologies if this is a repeat. This is about watermarks.

I've subscribed to various streaming services over the years. A long time ago I noticed a warbling sound in some releases. I was told this is a watermark.

I recently joined the Qobuz beta (44.1/16) and did an A/B test against another service (YouTube Music) on an album that I remembered had the watermark (Jarvi's DG recording of the Stenhammar symphonies). YouTube Music had the watermark, Qobuz did not have the watermark.

I was not able to do an A/B against Tidal because I am no longer a subscriber (for a different reason), but I remember that Tidal (lossless) did have the watermark problem on this DG issue.

I only tested this one album, but I am very happy about this. I found the watermark was nearly unlistenable, and it ruined many albums on Tidal for me. I am glad the watermark is not there on the one Qobuz album I tested. I listen to a lot of classical music, and this alone is enough reason to choose Qobuz.

I like Qobuz for the gapless playback in the android app but some missing EDM releases are very strange.
For instance the "Live in" Dj mix series from John Digweed. Qobuz has 6 releases of this series in their catalogue. But after 2015 no releases are added anymore.
There has been 3 new releases since 2015, none of them are included in Qobuz.
The most recent one "Live in Tokyo" from 2018 (https://www.discogs.com/John-Digweed-Live-In-Tokyo/release/12444896) is included in Tidal :frowning2:
Would be great to see "Live in Tokyo" also in Qobuz very soon...

Licensing agreements take time. If you'd like some hope, Qobuz UK offers 13 or 14 John Digweed releases, including "Live in" South Beach, Toronto, and Cordoba. No Tokyo yet, but that could be due to decisions or delays on the part of the artist or his label.
