Yes. It makes the DAP only accept WAV. In QLS official forums, some believe the DAP sounds better with WAV only firmware.

Result will be the reason to drop my precciiiouuuss (gollum choring with me) which I use as dap and transport to feed my dac/amp via coax.
Ps: I use a 12v accumulator to power that dac/amp. Beats the wall socket electricity. Strongly suggested

Don't know bout dx90 but I choose this DAP over calyxM with my setup (qls qa360 + dual mono dynalo + oppo PM1)

My QA360 has been in my hand over 100 days/ 500 Hrs. Hold Hifiman HM901 and IBASSO DX100 at the same time, QA360 has been the most played(almost the only) played portable source in the past three months.
I am a careless user and QA360 endured at least half dozen drop from hand hold position and survived (twice to hard face of pavement while walking).  So I am quite confident about it's durability. 
Sound wise I prefer QA360 better than HM901 with balance card or DX100. To my ears it's more natural sounding, especially with the new firm ware (WAV only V1.1.01).

Unfortunately, my QLS did't have a silicone case inside. But it had a protective film on the screen pasted on
