Puritan Audio Laboratories PSM136, PSM156, PSM1512 Power Conditioners

I connected a 20A ac9 pangea power cord to the Puritan, and could not hear any noticeable difference between the Pangea and ultimate cable through the puritan. I'm considering purchasing another psm156 to connect my desktop pc to. There is a dc offset/mechanical hum from my amplifier when the computer is on and connected to the psm156, but it completely disappears when the computer is off. Plugged my computer to a different outlet and the hum was also gone, but the sound became "digital" harsh hazy. I think it sounds best when connected to the psm156 but the hum from the amp annoys me. The hum is mechanical and does not go through the speakers. Currently have my pc connected to a spare PS Audio Stellar P3 on the same wall outlet. 50-60% of the noise is gone from the amp, but the clarity and "blackground" has slightly worsened while the sound became slightly fuller and rounded (which isn't terrible either). But I do miss the sound of my system with the pc in the psm156. Might have to get another one...
IFi ground blocker and dc blocker dongles will do this too.

PSM156 will do it better, at a far greater cost.

That's correct, thanks. GND Defender intelligently breaks ground loops, while DC Blocker makes humming transformers silent by removing DC offset on them. Thanks!

It is impossible in many cases to know which item is causing the problem....

Although this may seem difficult at first, there are just two symptoms to focus on. If you hear buzzing on your speakers/cans, you most likely have a ground loop somewhere. If you hear a humming transformer in one of your products, this is due to a DC offset. Based on that you know which product to buy. DC leakage is a simple thing to address, because you use a DC blocker on a humming product. As for ground loops, you try GND defender on your setup's each product and one of them connected with this accessory will make the buzz go away. Hope this helps, thanks!

Any PSM / Puritan cable fuse upgrade experiences? Especially the Audio Magic M-1…

For folk who've upgraded the fuses in their PSM or Puritan cable feeding their PSM, what did you go with and what was your experience?

My 2023 PSM156 doesn't have any inbuilt fuses, the only fuse is the one in the Ultimate cable I got with it, so thinking of upgrading that.

In particular, has anyone tried the Audio Magic Masterpiece M-1 'beeswax' fuse, their top fuse.

https://highend-electronics.com/products/audio-magic-masterpiece-m-1-beeswax-fuse

It was recommended by someone on the R26 thread a few months back, and there are a number of effusive reviews on the below site, several of which compare it favourably to the Synergistic Research Purple. Even so paying over USD200 for a fuse (this one is USD300) - especially a 'beeswax' one - is something I've balked at till now, good reviews or not. I mean if my non-hifi mates ever found out...

Anyway with satisfying results from other tweaks recently, I'm revisiting the fuse thing. I'd been thinking of getting one for my DAC, but then I stumbled across this thread on the PS Audio forum with a bunch of guys who've used the M-1 in their PS Audio power regenerators with great results. Which got me thinking re the Puritan.

I am a big fan of audio grade fuses, and I run Synergistic Research Master fuses where ever I can. We don't have fuses in our cables in the US, or I would have already done it in my Ultimate XX.

I have used the Synergistic Research Purple and Audio Magic M1 fuses in the past and the new SR Master best them all by quit a bit and is flat out magic and is all I use now. The SR Master is quite expensive, but believe it or not is worth it in my opinion.

Here is a good review https://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0423/Synergistic_Research_Master_Fuse_Review.htm

I would give it a go if I where you.

Sorry for silly question but how much does PSM156 weigh? I can’t seem to find it in specs.

Just ordered another ultimate cable to go to my pc. Don't have the funds to purchase another psm156 unfortunately. Purchasing a new Susvara drained me. I might connect the pc to the psm156 with the ultimate cable to see if the transformer hum goes down. If not, I'll just plug it directly into the wall as that does lower the transformer hum on my amplifier. I guess purchasing a psm156 for a single component is overkill anyways.

Could the dc blocker also diminish sound quality as well as the transformer hum? I know certain power conditioning products (definitely not the psm156, best conditioner I own) can drain dynamics and life out of music.
