Imagine if Yidimsum and Vka had held onto their plethora of HP-1000's and sold now? They could put down a serious chunk on a mortgage, or pay off their schooling (Yidimsum was doing dentistry an Vka was in grad school).

I would love to go back a decade, grab a mint HP-1 and 2 and even a pair of R10's for kicks, oh and an Omega I. HE90 is cheaper now than it was back then

I didn't know that the HE-90 was actually more then. Was the L3000 less or more back then?

L3000 was definitely cheaper but not by much, but the HE-90 at the time could only be had as the full meal deal! $18k I believe it was for the entire Big O. I have seen quite a few Big O's go for between 9-12k in recent years.

That's interesting.... insane but interesting - $18K Wow!

L3000 new was about $1,800 from Japan.

I got my first HP-2 on ebay ~1998 for $300

Was it selling on Amazon for about $2400?

Yeah, haven't checked the used market recently but I thought I saw some L3000's selling for about $3000 on the European market.

I cannot believe I sold all my HP-1000s and I had loads of them.... I never intended to sell them and the only reason I stocked up was because they were the best sounding headphone for me at the time and I was afraid I won't have enough of them to last me in my lifetime

I am not quite sure why they are worth so much now.
Looking back when the yen was nearly 149 to 1 dollar, I remembered I was able to score several R-10s for a flat 2K new from Japan. I am not sure how much R-10s are worth now? Man, those were good & cheap old times indeed.

Hey Vka! Long time no see around these parts. Ahhh....the days of the $2000 NOS R10's, heck not even NOS, but just brand new!

The days of a rather unknown site geared towards a pretty niche of a niche hobby certainly had its benefits, like cheap headphones found on the web

These days one has to be fine someone completely in the dark, which is rare enough. Though also, these days we have headphones that are coming out that many are finding are better than the old school bests. Do you still have your Orpheus? Hang on to that for dear life

Hey Vka! The HP-1s I bought form you back around 2000 made me so happy! I never needed or wanted another headphone, and then I did something stupid and sold them so I could buy a another car last summer. It's kind of funny because I bought them instead of a car, when I was only 16.

I only hope that these PS1000s or the HD-800s are as good or better than the HP-1s. Then, just maybe the prices will come down and I can get my pair back!
