Here’s another good one that dropped today. It’s not on qobuz but on bandcamp and Apple Music.

This is a new discovery for me and I'm really liking what I'm hearing. I came across an EP from the RSM guy (it's a solo project helped by a couple friends/collaborators from a Polish guy named Rafał Szewczyk) last night, liked what I heard, and now I'm checking out this LP. Dude is really talented and he's putting out some solid prog (with prog-metal alternative, and occasional hard rock influences) tunes. I'll definitely be exploring his caralog further. 🤘😎

Added for listening later - I don't know why it keeps doing this but Bandcamp has linked the cover image of the Awakening single rather than the album NO!.

I did give this a listen and mostly enjoyed it - I did end up wishing the tracks with vocals were instrumentals

Looking forward to the album dropping on Friday

I listened to this one earlier today and it definitely increased my already pretty hyped anticipation of the new album. I can't wait!

It's funny that I'm normally the guy who says I would prefer an instrumental version, but the one time I post some tracks that have vocals you turn the tables on me. 😂

Alessandro Zilio has a new album out that he released a couple weeks back. I missed it then, but this morning I'm listening to his last one as a prelude to checking out the new album. If you've never heard this dude, he's got some killer tunes.

I should have known this earlier, but I was today years old when I discovered that Night Verses' guitarist, Nick DePirro, has a solo project. The Night Verses lineage is unmistakable, so if you're looking for a departure, this isn't it. But if you like Night Verses (I love Night Verses), this is more of a great thing:

Here's a few that I've been listening to for the past couple of weeks:

EKZILO Quantum Phase Transition

A bit of heavy prog/space rock. predominantly instrumental but some vocals and a few dirty vocals, now I don't like dirty vocals but there's little enough here (and they aren't so extreme) that it doesn't spoil it fore me.

These next two I wasn't completely convinced on the first listen, but 3 listens in and both have really grown on me and I think are excellent. Some excellent keyboards (in particular) on both releases.

DAAL Decoding The Emptiness

GREAT WIDE NOTHING A Shout Into the Void

I find the vocals a bit weak on this but its great otherwise.

SYKOFANT Red Sun

This is an EP and it ventures a bit too close to being a Pink Floyd ripoff at times ( especially the Title track which is very close to 'Breathe'), but I love Floyd so...

DJABE Djabe & Steve Hackett: Freya - Arctic Jam

First off, I don't like Jazz, I don't even like Kind of Blue or Time Out, I do like some Oscar Peterson. Secondly I don't like the early 70s Jazz Fusion (Bitchs Brew, John Mccoghlan etc). So Any Jazzy stuff I do like has to be on the rock side of things. This album is Jazz/Prog...but it has Steve Hackett on Guitar so got to be worth a listen eh? Anyway I like it if Im in the mood, it's fairly laid back, some great bass playing as well as Steve and plenty of trumpet.

Maestro (2025) by Magic Pie - Just dropped today and on my second playthrough I can safely say I very much like it. Classed as symphonic-prog (not sure about that) this Norwegian band certainly seem to be able to put a good album together, the other five albums they've released are worth a listen too. Listening on Qobuz so should be on the other streamers too.

I like this Magic Pie and checked some of their back catalog which has some good stuff as well

Aside from the occasional lame vocal spot, this album is sick! The instrumental tracks and parts are pretty incredible. I've never heard them or heard of them before, but they are well worth the time it takes to give this album a whirl. Thank you for the rec! 🙏😎

Is the “lame vocal” like a sudden breakout of out of key opera, growly demon conjure or just old time country crooning over bar chords? I’ll have to check it later this evening.
