The new Rolo Tomassi is very good!

It is! Unfortunately the "growling" kinda ruins it for me though. I'd be happy if they were to get rid of that going foward.

I think I'm going to have to start an "eradicate the growling" movement lol. But I don't want to be a downer, so I'm going to refrain from commenting on it from now on.

I feel the same, no matter how good the music, as soon as I hear growling I'm out - I've always put it down to being an old fart and growing up on Yes, Genesis, ELP and the like. :D

Growling I can sometimes take. But when they SCREAM at me, I'm done. One exception is The Architect by Haken. The SCREAMING kinda works in that tune...

(LOL. speaking of growling, check my avatar: Bell Witch)

He does make some interesting noises at times while playing that flute.

D'oh - I meant Jon Anderson! But I think you are right - I'm pretty sure that Ian Anderson does the odd growl now and then lolI

The 20th Anniversary Remastered of Arena's The Visitor is now on Tidal and Spotify. Playing this album brought back so many memories of that time, one of the best Prog-Rock album ever!

The new Organized Chaos album is quite good. (Recommended if you like bands like Pain Of Salvation and Haken)

How had I never heard of them before! There really needs to be a more comprehensive music database by sub genre. I'd classify this as progressive metal. Very much like Haken (one of my favorite bands). I do hear the faith no more and pain of salvation in here as well. maybe some perfect beings in there too. nicely done. like for you.

Jonathan Wilson - Rare Birds (2018)
Some kind of psychedelic dreamy pop(-rock), worth a listen:

"Jonathan Wilson had a busy 2017, producing Father John Misty's grammy-nominated Pure Comedy and touring arenas around the globe as a guitarist and vocalist for Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters (for whom he also contributed to the lauded Is This The Life We Really Want? album.) Wilson also saw widespread acclaim heaped on Karen Elson’s sophomore LP Double Roses, which he recorded with her in Los Angeles in 2016.

But it's not looking like Wilson is going to get much of a rest in 2018 either, as he'll be continuing on with the worldwide Waters tour and is set to release his own new solo album Rare Birds in the spring. The highly anticipated long player - which features backing vocals from Lana Del Rey, Josh Tillman, fellow Roger Waters bandmates Lucius and an extraordinary musical gift from otherworldly Brian Eno collaborator Laraaji - will be released through Bella Union worldwide.

Although much of the album is comprised lyrically of meditations on a failed relationship and its aftermath, Wilson insists that Rare Birds is not really a concept album. “It's meant more as a healing affair, a rejuvenation, a reconciliation, for others, and for me. I wanted to balance personal narrative with the need I feel for calming healing music. I think we need journeys in sound, psychedelic gossamer-winged music that includes elements consciously and purposefully to incite hope, positivity, longing, reckless abandon and regret. It's all in there.”"

Going through them - thanks!

Listening to Toehider now and am really enjoying it. Great vocals. Determined that it`s Michael Mills:
Michael Adam Mills[3] is an Australian musician and songwriter. He is best known as a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and main songwriter for the progressive rock band Toehider. He began songwriting at an early age, and performing in bands from the age of 12. He was a member of the band Template, before forming Toehider in 2008 with the release of the eponymous EP and the "12 EPs in 12 Months" project. He has recently appeared as a guest vocalist on the Ayreon album The Theory of Everything, with his performance being cited as a highlight by many reviewers.[4][5][6][7]

He has drawn praise for his powerful, emotive voice and vocal range. He has cited Bruce Dickinson and Ian Gillan as vocal influences.[8][9] His vocal range spans four octaves from low C to soprano C.[10][11]
