First, I agree. Album of the year, and by a large measure. These guys are amazingly adept at the language of contemporary Prog. Part of it reminds of what Asia could have sounded like if they didn't totally suck *****.

Second, the vocalist is amazing! He's not trying to be a SINGER, and it sounds like he's actually, I dunno, singing. Not trying to out-do the guitarist with his massive vocal rifts. I could do without the Screamo stuff, but it is 2016. At any rate, the under-played vocals are so darn refreshing.

Anyway, great album!

I listened to it many times since, and I have to agree with you... Actually the vocal style (simple, linear, synthetic)  fits very well with the sound of the album. There's so much going on instrumentally and a "singer" style would not fit. Initially I just had that feeling - as with Steven Wilson's albums - that such instrumentally amazing music calls for an outstanding vocal. But I guess I was wrong :)

Plus, your post about the vocals really put me over the edge, and made me give it a good listen. So yes, Pfillion has been right, all along!!!:D

New Fates Warning teaser

How in the world can they still be together?!

Wow. That really made me aware of how influential these guys have been. I haven't paid any attention to them in well over 20 years. I might have to change that...
