Professional and Versatile, FIIO’s Desktop High-Res Audio Streamer S15 Is Officially Released!

Initially couldn’t get it to work with my iPhone but suddenly it’s working like a charm with my iPhone 15 pro Max. I’ve attached my screenshot and I’m thrilled with my Tidal so completely controlled by my iPhone on the FiiO. I sending dsd files over to my topping dx9 and the sound ID spectacular. Quiet and musical. All in all the ARC while not eArc is adequate. Shame about the absent cec remote controls over the Arc. Anyways

As previously mentioned I had several issues with my S15, some of which were user error however its mostly sorted now. The sound from the S15 is worth the price of admission alone. Still a few bugs to iron out but I'm sure FiiO will get them sorted. @FiiO please please publish a proper online user manual so these user errors can be avoided along with the associated frustration.

I can add it with the qr code and use it whilst open. When apps closed or loses connection it won’t connect back and does nothing.

Not being able to actually have screen active all time is a big issue as you can’t use the VU meters for longer than 30 mins. Does this happen for you as well or is it just my unit?

No issue with the screen staying active for Android control app, haven't used the VU meters for long enough to know tbh, meters are ugly anyway so...As far as the screen on the S15 behavior goes mine behaves the same way as yours, now playing followed by a clock followed by a screen saver with a spectrum analyzer clock and album art.
Update: with the supplied remote it's not the remote that has a mind of its own, its the FiiO music app, behaved same way when using the control app, only thing in common is the FiiO music app.

Found a substitute for FiiO cast called Anydesk which will help my remote control it on my iPhone.

FiiO Music app crashes quite often during menus and doesn’t remember settings made such as enabling it DNLA renderer option. It’s worse when using Pure Music as I can’t get it to work at all.

FiiO Cast is buggy and often just doesn’t work on Android devices. I have added it and it shows online, but it often disconnects for no reason. It doesn’t work at all on iOS for me as it won’t see the device. I can add it using the QR code, but after first use and app is closed it cannot reconnect and does not show it being online.

Using VU meters is no good as soon as screensaver comes on they go. If you have screensaver off then the display goes off.

Only a few apps seem to display Spectrum Anaylser on the screensaver screen. FiiO Music and Roon Ready.

Roon Ready is a bit laggy and crashes often when switching apps or menus but this isn’t certified and is faking it as it shows it’s an R7 so hopefully will improve when it is fully certified.

Using other apps such as BubbleUPnP to use its UPnP/DNLA renderer it stops advertising it on the network when it goes into screensaver mode. As you can’t stop the timeout behaviour it’s a pain in the neck.

Bluetooth remote is also a bit slow and often lags behind. Gets worse over time unit is up.

Is there no possibility how to disable the screensaver mode? Not even in the Android developer mode? Or what about apps like Caffeine?

You can disable it but it then just turns off the screen instead when it reaches the allotted time.

One should not have to go in Developer mode or use another app to do this basic function. The device is in use if playing music it should not enter screensaver or screen off it should go off with inactivity as it says in the setting. FiiO need to fix it. Eversolo doesn’t do this and it’s Android.

OK, so now I started to regret that I made the preorder. This must be a bad joke..?

From the photos they've published (like the one below) I got the impression that (yes, of course...!) album arts should be there...

It’s there in the apps own now playing. But when it switched to screensaver it’s absent or you choose FiiO Playing. This is using Roon. Seems to work for other apps ok.

Factory reset of device and deleted and readded iPhone FiiO Control and it works now. So something odd must of gone on after the firmware update or perhaps the install on iPhone. It asked permissions to access network to look for other devices, don’t remember that first time.
