I am trying to buy a HE-400, and they are on sale now here in Holland from 399 for 299.

Unfortunately it seems the shops are out of stock now and don't know if they receive new stock.

Is it true that the production of this headphone is stopped or will be stopped?

Will it be replaced by a new model? What is it gonna cost? I guess it will be substantially more than the 299 it is on sale for now?

Should I forget about the HE-400 and move to a Senn HD650, which I can get for 329.

I gonna drive it with a iDSD nano so the HD650 might be too much?

There will be a successor called the HE-400i but i'm not sure on pricing yet, i'm sure someone on here knows though, it clearly won't be heavily discounted like the HE-400 is at the moment.

The HE-400 remains a nice headphone off course even if it is out of production.

I saw a price mentioned of 459 dollars for the HE-400i which probably will be 459 Euros here Holland.

I've never heard the HE-400 unfortunately but i've always wanted to due to the glowing reviews. I'm under the impression the 400i is more of a revamp rather than a completely new model so if you can get the HE-400 for a good price i'd jump on it! I asked because i'n considering the iDSD as my next purchase, which headphones have you tried it with? Anything with a very low impedance say sub 16? Just wondering about hiss on sensitive iem's.

No I haven't tried any low impedance headphones or IEMs. I can't use IEMs any longer than 15 mins. I get aching ears. So far I only used Beyerdynamics DTX501p and Sennheiser HD 25 Aluminium. Both on-ears. The Beyerdynamics sound pretty good, considering the price, just 65 Euros. The HD25s sound much warmer though. On the iDSD nano the 2 are great. I mainly stream Hires audio from my server to iDevices CCK iDSD nano headphone.

For those wondering, there has been some speculation about the HE-400i's pricing to be around 500 USD.  I think that's what was stated in the CNet article in January (560 is going to be a successor to the 500 going at 900 I think).

Do you guys think the prices of the HE-400 and HE-500 will drop after the new models roll out? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

It's not a revamp, it is a completely new model (with completely different drivers as well as external design).

HE400 and HE400i are similar on name and price-point alone.
