Introducing the RAAL-requisite TI-1a Transformer Interface amplifier, a significant development in True-Ribbon™ headphone technology. The development took a while longer than hoped for, but ultimately, RAAL-requisite has now developed a transformer-based amp to ribbon interface with 32 and 16 Ohm inputs. It operates with less than -100dB distortion, can transfer 6 watts of power, exhibits no ringing, goes far into the ultrasonic, is safe to plug in and out of a fully cranked amp, safe to drive with headphones unplugged, and grounds the static electricity of the headphones. Simply put… TI-1a safely transforms your headphone amp into a huge current ribbon driving monster!

It's not a copy nor a trick. Instead, this is proper engineering that most successfully solves the compatibility challenges of True-Ribbon™ headphones when using conventional headphone amps. Secure yours today for immediate shipment as soon as they're in stock!

I just want this. Looks cool😂

So now the RAAL can be powered by any powerful headamp.

Pretty cool

What about the Open Baffle compensation, where is it integrated into the system? Hopefully not just with the enclosed intermediate plugs? That would be unfortunate for all those who drive the headphone amplifier exclusively digitally.

And one more question: how can a single ended headphone signal be tapped? I don't see a 6.35 TRS to XLR adapter from RAAL. Or is it possible that this does not work at all?

Thanks in advance for the nice and knowledgeable answers! :)

So yea, the open-baffle compensation plugs interface at the rear analog input of an amplifier, so amps that are fed digitally can still be used they just won't have access to the compensation. Additionally I'll reach out to Danny to inquire about plugging the TI-1a into a single ended output, as I don't want to jump to any conclusions

Awesome!
Glad to know there's this path now down the road to use my existing GS-X Mini with a future ribbon headphone

Rumor is "the" future ribbon headphone won't even need any compensation ^^ which means it will also likely be better suited for use with amplifiers that are only fed with digital input

is there an RCA connection into the TL as well as 4 pin XLR as my 13r is single ended in and out

Concerning your question of how can a single ended headphone signal be tapped? See the above question and then Aleksandar's reply. This reply was from the this thread

Yes, our OB Compensation barrel plugs are useles with digital input amps, so the curve has to be created in digital domain.
It can't be done at the output of the amp.

I guess it's an easy thing to do in ROON, using shelving filters, but I'll have Makiah try it :)

This is the curve that needs to be created:

I’ve had some success creating that curve in the digital domain I’ll also mention that (iFi)‘s full size All in one products have an integrated bass boost that works quite well not as nice as the compensation curve but very straightforward and satisfactory to my ears

I’m outside of my home at the moment so don’t have access to my roon core but in a few days I’ll put together a Roon we profile and share it here

hi, has anyone had success in creating the compensation curve in digital domain? Could you please share it with us? I really and unfortunately have no idea how to do this through Roon. Thanks.

I’m confused about several statements on RAAL’s web regarding the TI-1a.

“TI-1a bridges the gap to include the use of conventional, high-powered, 2-channel amps and mono-blocks”

“With the TI-1a, you can also use normal speaker amplifiers, in a vast range of power. From SET’s with a few Watts to whatever 100 lbs. of solid-state you have”

“so you can expect significant improvements in sound refinement of your speaker amp”

From the above statements, I get the impression that that TI-1a is a sonic upgrade over the older resister interface and that the TI-1a can even be used with high power amplifiers.

I haven’t read how you can adapt or terminate speaker level cables to T1-1a. What am I missing?

What normally comes with the TI is XLR-to-XLR input cable (between the headphone amp and the TI box).

When ordering the TI from us, you can specify do you need a banana-to-4pin XLR (for speaker amps) or XLR-to-XLR for (headphone amps), or both.

Or, you can find the adapter cable online:
