Fun with filters.

I like this image, but I like it cropped better. The OOF handrail in the foreground keeps pulling my eye back from the horizon. Also, typically you want the foreground in focus, because that's the way we see. Scroll your browser to cut off the handrail. Much stronger image, IMO.

I love it. I disagree with the previous post. I think that keeping the handrail makes it a lot more realistic, otherwise it would seem too unreal and computer-generated.

Highland Park, Rochester NY. One of the prettiest parks around, especially in the Spring.

There is an area in the park that I shoot every spring. Flowering trees, daffodils, narcissus, etc., all in blossom at once. The weather has been kind of lousy, and the schedule of blossoming is all screwed up. (We went from a high of 89 F on Good Friday to an overnight low of 18 F the following Friday.) Plus, we're coping with two Aussie Shepherd puppies...tough to get out early, and I can't really do much after work. But, I managed to get out last Friday morning.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

Beerguy i find the railing a tad distracting as well, but i thought the rocks in the foreground added something to the shot. And since i'm rubbish at PS i left the railing there..

Ttvetjanu, thanks!

I prefer the railing too, as it gives a sense of perspective & motion looking down the staircase. Nice.

I'm not sure which photo I like better.
I probably would have liked the railing if it were also in focus, but that might not have been physically possible giving the wide DOF required.

It's still a very unique location. I've never seen something like it before in real life.

PS: Thanks Wil!
