I've been digging through my old archives today trying to find some decent photos I never processed to pad my portfolio. Here's a couple of new-old photos:

An unusual treatment for a butterfly - I was playing around and liked the warm monochrome look

Nothing really special here, but I'm low on flowers

And lastly, a couple of rare abstracts:

This isn't actually meant to be a Peter Lik rip-off

The rising sun shines through a group of leaves, fading all else to blackness

I intend to take some actually new stuff soon now that the leaves have all come in, but it was cold and dreary today. The weather still hasn't quite made up its mind as to what season it feels like being.

EDIT: Grr, I hadn't noticed that leaf in the one on the left to begin with - I removed it in the original, but I don't feel like uploading another small file for Head-fi. Sorry

Assuming that means you like it too, thanks!

For my trip today I went down to the Red Cedar rapids with my 11-16mm Tokina. I actually planned on doing the sunset in the nearby natural preserve, but I never got a good angle on it and the rapids were near, so I did them instead. This was my first time doing rapids, and I didn't bring a tripod so these are all handheld.

All of the exposures were between 1/4 second and 1/2 second. I can't hand hold anything slower with decent sharpness, even at 11mm

I'm thinking about returning with a tripod to get some sharper, longer exposures.

[New post to keep with the 4 pictures / post limit]

I also did some tree bud shots while I was on my way to the rapids, which I think came out pretty nicely:
