I really like these two.
The fur on the dog reminds me of fire.

With the cat, this is one of the few selective colors that I enjoy.

No need for the borders though.

Photobucket really does a number on detailed photos with gradients and such. I stopped using Photobucket some time ago because of their overly brutal recompressing of all images. Funny thing that Tinypic, which is owned by the same company as Photobucket, leaves images as-is (more or less), without inducing those pronounced JPEG artifacts.

Got to try out my friend's D700 last week. I'm really not doing the camera justice with my mediocre skills and lighting. Here's my feeble attempt anyway:

Too much blurry stuff near the front distracts me.

I'm a drummer too. My favorite sticks are the Buddy Rich white sticks (both wood and nylon tips).

If you want to create more interesting lighting, you can try the classic three-point lighting (google the term if you don't know it) or just add a simple rim light to accentuate the edges of your subject.

Raymond, your pictures are stunning. I particularly like the ones with the flowers---they are very vibrant pictures.

Here's two I took the other day near Columbia University in NYC. Shot with 28-135mm on a 350D. PP to change colors and unsharp mask

And I have finally bought myself a medium format film camera for landscape photography, the huge and heavy G690BL 6x9 medium format rangefinder, also know as "The Texas Leica". I haven't yet found a way to make a picture of this camera that gives an accurate impression of how big it really is.

Before I bought it I had seen a load of pictures of it but I still broke out in a kind of shocked giggle when I opened the box and got a real impression of the size of the beast.
The 6x9 format combined with the very sharp Fujinon S 100/3.5 yields incredibly detailed shots which should be printable at very large sizes.
