I was playing around with long exposures while shooting a couple bands the other night. Here are a few of the better one, at least IMO.

Canon 20D, 85/1.8. I dropped the ISO to 100 to get longer shutter speeds (.3 to .7 sec)

Here are a few shots from Ocracoke Island, NC this past summer:

Taken with a Canon PowerShot A520. I'm looking into DSLRs now, I figure it's about time I stepped it up a bit

I'm looking at the Olympus E-500 (possibly E-300) and the Nikon D40 but having a hard time deciding...

beerguy;
IMO, showing motion/action in a 2-D space is one of the few things color photography does a lot better than painting.

Stitch or crop? If stitch, what program(s)? IMO, panoramas are one of the few things digital does better than film.

Verrry nice. Where in Oakland is the Chapel of the Chimes? It looks like a place that I want to burn a few rolls of B&W film.

It's right next to the Mountain View Cemetery (Piedmont area) and is well worth the trip. I was there one night for a fundraising dinner and was blown away by how beautiful it is. Went back the next morning just to take pictures (it's open to the public 9-5) and pretty much had the place to myself.

Just sort of partially finished my newest thing I'm working on currently. The title / subject is: A beautifully presented misery:
Do you think you get the subject by looking at it? (serious question)

Sorry, but no. It's the eyes, the eyes do not imo show misery. Beautiful yes, misery no.

The places I have seen beautiful/misery is in the National Geographic magazine, where there are pictures of beautiful women and children in heart wrenching situations. They may be smiling for the camera but their eyes show their true sadness and misery.

The b/w, the model, and the pose remind me a whole lot of some sort 1920's 'damsel in distress about to be eaten by martians/godzilla' imagery.

The tears look like they've been photoshopped in, and I find it very distracting, since they do not seem like they belong in the image.

Great concept, and I love your other work, hope I haven't been too critical, ftr, my photography really does pale in comparison.
