post your HD650 setup

The best HD650 setup is one that is replaced by Stax parts :wink:

but seriously, I loved the HD650 coming out of the Graham Slee Solo with the CI Audio VDA2/VAC1 as a source.

Pretty modest set up of laptop (foobar2k) > usb > Corda Cantate.2 (w/ Meier Crossfeed) > HD650

Works a treat and sounds better than my old setup of laptop> optical > D10 > Little Dot MK V > HD650 although that did sound great. The Cantate.2 is just a bit warmer and more vibrant, and the cross feed makes a huge difference.

Occasionally I stick the Pico as a DAC between the laptop and Cantate.2 and I think this is a slight improvement, but not huge enough of one to make the effort unless I'm digging in for a long listening session or having a first listen of a new album.

my setup: foobar (FLAC) - Zu Oxyfuel interconnects - Headfive - HD650 + Zu Mobius cable

can i get some opinions on this?

i'm quite happy with the Zu Mobius cable, they tame the highs and i feel more bass impact. but i'm not sure how the other cables compare, eg cardas, blue dragon etc

would the Zu Oxyfuel interconnects be better replaced with a decently priced alternative?

i've pre-ordered and am waiting for the Valhalla to ship. at the same time, am considering either another tube amp such as the WooAudio 6SE or a solid state amp like the GS1. as i also have a MS2i, i'm thinking MS2i + tube amp, and HD650 + solid state.

Here  is a picture of the amp, psu and my cans.  I also recently started using the headphone amp as a preamp for my turntable... it has taken my vinyl sound to another level.

A word of caution on your headphone stand. The metal doesn't look like it has any padding; it could chip your HD650's headband.

[size=medium]
ALAC > Firestone Bravo > Balanced Matrix Mini-i > WA22 > Balanced APS cable >  HD650

or:

Luxman P-405 > OM40S > Balanced PSA GCPH > WA22 > Balanced APS cable >  HD650

No complaints

Setup is in my signature. I feel like I'm one of the only people with a Little Dot DAC_1 on these forums. It pairs well and looks great with the MK III. The brushed aluminum finishes are great, and the DAC_1 has balanced outputs to boot in case I ever go that route (probably not).
