Dirt on LTT. now my impression him is different. I would say my fav benchmark site is Hardware Unboxed, and if they got issues with LTT, I would definitely listen. The Gamer Nexus editor seams to be a no nonsense type as well.

Some pretty shocking stuff, always sucks when you find out a long time creator you watch has done stuff like this. Gamers Nexus seems to be one of the more ethical tech journalists out there so I do trust what is being said, especially with the testing methodology stuff in their other videos they do go in depth on their testing and data handling and it seems like they are professionals in that field.

Apart from that the stuff with the waterblock company seems pretty awful & digusting to put down a small company like that after LTT made the mistakes themselves. Seems like they heavily damaged a small company for no reason other than to cover their own ass out of ego or something or the other.

Yah, Gamer Nexus doesn't come of like Linus. Linus is an eccentric type and fit for entertainment, but not for accuracy of technical stuff. Linus has a certain personality for the type of content he does, and his strength is not in rigorous testing for accuracy. Gamer Nexus seems like the composed type that wouldn't create drama, but that video from LTT is just unprofessional, and LTT doesn't come off very professional either. His staff are a bunch of goons that I get laughs from, not for serious content.

I can see why Gamer Nexus was annoyed. And he must have not said anything about their in-accuracy until his annoyance got tipped off, and he went all out. He had a list of stuff he noticed over time.

I'm not sure what background Linus has, but I would guess his background is a 'common working man' type, and probably doesn't have degree in anything that requires rigor, which I find is fundament to think in that manner.

I pretty much lost respect for Linus, and the audio review industry can learn a lot from Gamer Nexus or a lot of the good PC reviewers. I've developed some respect for Gamer Nexus now. I take PC parts reviews seriously compared to audio, which seams pretty useless.

Yeah, there was a somewhat lengthy discussion about Linus a few months ago on here, and it kind of starts page 183 of this thread.
I will say I haven't changed my views for the better towards LTT at all. But he's always felt slimy and disingenuous to me, so just to see his scummy behavior get highlighted AGAIN with yesterday's GamersNexus post - with cited examples - I further wonder at how his fanbase STILL commits to Linus. It's like a cult, and an unhealthy one at that.
Could it be entertainment? I guess so.
But the guy LITERALLY destroyed a small company with criminal behavior. He misused the product, and incorrectly installed the product; then didn't give it back to the startup company and sold it (sorry, "donated" it) under their noses. Never owning up to this despicable act.
Linus has repeatedly stated OUT LOUD that he doesn't care about being "accurate", or even "right". It's about getting views and profit. By doing this - as GN stated in that post - you not only mislead your viewers, but you also harm the integrity of the company you're bashing. And if you lie to ADVERTISE positive viewpoints for your paying constituents without recognizing known faults on the product - again you're lying to and misleading your fanbase.
If you make a mistake, that's fine. Own up to it. Don't weasle your way around it and talk yourself up as if you have no fault in the matter at all. Which is all Linus ever seems to do.

Haha backing up my claim that Linus always deflects fault onto others, and refusing to own up to them, GamersNexus' video had 2 MILLION views in 24 hours.
He responded a little bit today, because Linus did another "poor me, I'm a victim!" response to the backlash. And ... well, Steve covers it in another 10 minute callout for Linus' behavior.

I'm glad that SOMEBODY with some influence in the YouTube tech industry is finally standing up to LTT. I think the other companies that have been battered and beaten down are just unable to have influence, and/or are not willing to sacrifice their stature by addressing these issues.

Also, and edit to my previous post a few hours ago: They didn't 'donate' the product. They 'auctioned' it. My bad.

LTT has and always will be a sideshow circus. Nobody in the pc building community take their advice and recommendations seriously, there’s way better sources for sound advice and recommendations.
What concerns me is that there are a LOT of "casual" to novice users that only use LTT for quick updates and/or info on a product they're interested in. What happens is, that incorrect information by a trusted resource gets shot out to a mass majority of viewers that don't know or understand they are getting wrong tips and info.
If I was in his position, I'd work my hardest to ensure that anything I get wrong is notated and made easily available. I wouldn't dismiss critics; shirk off viable callouts pertaining to journalistic integrity and/or ethics as if it's a joke. I wouldn't MOCK people who have less money and views than me, and treat them like lesser-thans because I was at the top of the heap. I would also try my best not to cover my mistakes by saying "Well that product is bad no matter what, even IF the information was correct". That's what gets to me the most.

This is unfortunately so true.

And these young kids can't see that they're being manipulated by these "influencers", back in my day we just called them con men.

At least gamer's nexus still sticks to their guns and is still a trustworthy resource. In this day in age, thats a rare thing.

Hate is a strong word but that's exactly how I feel about LTT. His huge reach equals bigger damage to the community without regard to accountability.

Being a PC modder/builder of a different era where surgery is required on the chip itself or with a pencil to unlock CPUs to be able to overclock and building water cooling systems from scratch and waterblocks were only made by a handful of modders and company, remember Danger Den? Or if you go air cooling you want a cooler that's all copper that can weigh half as much of they entire system you're building. It was interestingly fun then compared to now where building a PC is easier than building an IKEA furniture and all you have to worry about is how much RGB lighting you need to light an entire room LOL. But seriously, that's where the pit falls come into play for new builders + the popularity of LTT where new builders learn the hard way of spending hundreds and thousands of $$$ based on the wrong advice. Damage done and the new pc builder grows up, move on to more credible sources, become an enthusiast and keep LTT for entertainment purposes only.
