How much do harps cost anyway?

It's an older style Lyon & Healy Concert Grand, I think my parents paid around $35,000 including shipping and that ginormous transport case.

What's the point of buying something so expensive? If I had something that expensive, I'd be scared to touch it in case I damaged it somehow.

That's really cool! I'm sure it'd sound really good when strung. I can't even begin to imagine how much it would cost to get it restrung! Restringing my violin already costs around $100 (cost of strings), but that's only for 4 strings that are maybe a quarter of the length of one of the longer strings on the harp.

Actually, the drumset's quite nice, you just can't tell from it's surroundings.

how do your strings cost friggin 100 bucks? Mine cost around 35...

I used to pay 80 bucks for my C string alone. Made of tungsten, but it sounded awesome! I think it was $130 for bottom 2 strings, and another 40 for the top 2.

Pirastro Evah Pirazzi set plus Oliv E string costs over $100 in the United Kingdom. The same would cost around $50-60 in the US and in Hong Kong.

I also played clarinet, bass clarinet, and alto sax for pit this year (Pirates of Penzance), but no pics, sorry. I just realized I don't have any good pics of my music-related stuff. I guess I just experience music so much, I never feel the need to take pics of it, kind of like work.

Hey that's great! I see you love playing music too! I actually have an organ at home, but it doesn't have pipes. It's my dad's:

It's in the sitting room, which has a really high ceiling. Apparently, having the speakers facing towards the walls makes the experience more church/cathedral-like.

Four of my diatonic harmonicas, and my C-tuned chromatic.

My Yamaha keyboard. It sounds WONDERFUL, and has magnificent MIDI/computer features, but I just wish that more of the controls were analog.

My Yamaha Stage Custom drum set. As you can see, it has many years of abuse on it...

I recently upgraded the tom heads to some nice high-quality Evans ones from my so-so Yamaha replacements. It features another mid-tom that I usually don't use. I have the follow Zildjian A Customs: Crash, Splash, Hi-Hat. I have a Wuhan Ride and a Wuhan Splash, but I usually don't use the Splash unless whatever I'm playing calls for it. A nice trashy sound, when used, though. The bass pedal is the DW4000.

The restringings not that bad, only about $500 to have it professionally done by Lyon & Healy, it's the shipping that kills you, $1k each way.
