Keeping my AM3 720BE with unlocked 4th core @ 3,5ghz on a steady 33 idle, 44 load! In the summer! Pwnd!

Yeah, but it's still an AMD.

Hahaha nice one!

I put a lot of thought into my hardware selection when I built my current rig in the spring of 2009. AMD 720BE was the best bang for my buck back then. I was also looking forward to trying to unlock the 4th core on that triple-core cpu. And I succeeded! If I had to build a new rig right now I'd go the i5 route. I'm never looking for the fastest or most recent hardware but always try to find a balance between cost and performance.

I do the exact same thing.  That's why I couldn't resist a Core i7-930 at $199 from Microcenter.  That's $90 less than what Newegg.com is selling it for.

All my other components too are good bang-for-the-buck (GeForce GTX 460, the 6GB PNY memory which was on sale + a MIR).  In fact, the sound card was the biggest pill to swallow at $199.

Thankfully, the office is paying for the whole thing, so that big pill went down quite easily. :D

If you don't mind my asking, are you doing binaural recordings along the lines of hemi-synch, binarual beats, and  brain-sync systems? If not, please excuse me for barging in. I have a keen interest in PC EEG multi-modality feedback systems and have been doing so for almost 2 decades now.

Tascam DR-100 digital recorder. DPA SMK4060 matched mini omnidirectional mics and a mannequin head.

I've been happy with my headphone rig for some time. And my speaker rig has just moved to as far as its going for any number of years. I'm selling some gear to put funds towards taking up binaural recording, which I've wanted to do for some time but am fortunate enough to have the flexibility of buy before sell on this occassion. Moving onto a new phase of my academic life with a PhD, I thought it an apt time to take the plunge into a new hobby too.

Should be fun!

Somewhat generic el-cheapo Chinese Android tablet. It's the Witstech A81-E, a nice little 7" MID that is running Android 2.1 on a Cortex A8.
The OS feels more like a beta version, it doesn't have access to Google's Android Market and app compatibility is hit 'n miss.

Then again, it was only 199 Dollars and works great as a tiny little handheld internet device.
