Possible to connect my PS3 to my soundcard and use my headphones?

Well the videocards have the mini hdmi.  I do have a mini hdmi to regular hdmi cable already, can this not be used to get video?  So do I still need to buy that toslink adapter for the sound? Cant I just use the optical cables I have and run the audio without the adapter?

I have 2 video inputs on my monitor.  No hdmi.  One vga, which I use for my pc, and one dvi, which is not used.

you can run the audio using the optical adapter and use an hdmi to dvi converter to connect to your monitor.

I'm a little confused why I need a optical adapter.  Cant I simply plug the optical cable that came with my soundcard to my ps3, than to the sound card?  And for video, could I not hook up the ps3 via hdmi to my videocard?  The videocard has mini hdmi, I have a mni hdmi to regular hdmi cable already, I cant get video this way instead of buying a hdmi to dvi converter?

So I finally got this in the mail.  I get video for my ps3, but no sound.  I have the optical hooked to my sound card, and in the creative sound options, I still cant select the setting for SDIF Input settings.  What am I doing wrong?

Still cant figure out what the problem is.  Can someone help me set this up please.

Here is my set up.  Monitor is hooked to PS3 via dvi to hdmi cable.  optical cable is hooked at the back of one of those red and white ports at the back of titanium.  I assume this is for optical since it fits.  I tried setting the PS3 to only pcm 2.0, but still nothing.  Anyone know what is going on?

Nevermind I found help from another forum.  All that needed to be done was clicking digital in, under the mixer tab in game mode.  I'm kind of shocked it was that simple and nobody here knew that.
