I'm looking to buy a pair as a present for my dad.
He does a lot of DIY and gardening around the house, and uses his headphones to listen to radio etc. Most of the time his headphones are subject to wear and tear to the point where at the moment, the pads are worn and he's just using a bit of tissue to pad the right ear!
So durability is the main priority, I was looking at the Sony MDR-V150 at £8 as they have fairly durable looking leather pads, but everyone here says they're dreadful headphones. My next choice is the Koss PortaPro (£12.50), they seem to be recommended but they don't look especially durable.
Any other suggestions? Headphones with a top or maybe back band, no clip-on ear type headphones or IEMs. He's also not the type of person that likes receiving gifts, so minimum spend would be nice.
