Hello everybody

I am looking for a OFFLINE budget portable FLAC player that has decent amount of storage or microSD slot for expansion.

The used market is trash for me so sadly no OG ipods only touches.

Any good models of Ipod touches i should lookout for?

I will not use spotify, soundcloud, apple music, amazon music, only local files

On a budget, you can pick up a used LG V30 or similar. If you want to run anything that requires more power, then a DAP like the Hidisz AP80 Pro X has both 3.5 and 2.5 out. It has no wifi but sounds very good for local playback, and storage is expandable with micro SD cards.

I'm a big fan of the Sony NW-40, NW-A50 series Walkmans running the Mr. Walkman CFW. About $100 or less, expandable uSD storage, plays FLAC up to the (insane) quality of 352.8KHz / 24bit. I find Sony's effects to be usually inoffensive to almost good, particularly when listing to mp3s. In contrast, Hiby/Hidisz has these confusing MSEB sliders that I don't understand and am constantly fiddling with.

Try searching for the most common models: NW-A45, NW-A55 You should find ones from Japan around $120-150

Search for NW-A35 on eBay. Lowest is $75 shipped from Japan. Other hits show about $85.

All the daps support flac. The Hiby r2 and Shanling M0 Pro are two of the most affordable ones.

I would not buy from these sellers. They have negative feedback and a relatively small number of sales <500. If some is already getting negative comments with so few sales, they probably are not very responsible.

You could also look into the FiiO X3. First-generation ones are under $100 on Ebay, 2d generation just a little more. The interface is a little clunky but the sound is good.
