Have you checked out the E07K Andes?  I read a review else where and it seemed to get a good amount of favorable reviews.  I don't think I've read one that spoke negatively of it.

I've read on here that iPhones/iPods won't run through external DACs, so I guess I'd worry that the best bits of the e7 would be lost by me?... (I have no idea if that's even vaguely true).
