Blomstedt conducts Schubert and Bruckner 08 September 2021

Wiener Philarmoniker

Schubert - Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 “Unfinished” - 00:44 Bruckner - Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major “Romantic”, WAB 104 - 31:47

Very nice indeed.Possibly the best windplaying I have heard in that work.
Blomstedt is in his 90s and conducting one of the World´s best orchestras on Tour ?
The venue looks like Amsterdam?
PS saving Bruckner 4 for later, but I have some of his Bruckner recordings with the Gewandthaus Orchester.

Cheers CC

How are you, CC?
Blomstedt's Beethoven is also pretty good, the recent one with Leipzig in hi-res.
His ancient cycle with Dresden back in the 1970s, was also superb.
Rich, fuller sound than the Leipzig cycle.
cheers

Last night's concert from The Helix concert hall, Dublin.

The Lyric Concert with Paul Herriott and the RTE National Symphony Orchestra perform a special concert for Culture Night 17 Sept 2021.

Chief Conductor Jaime Martin (Spanish) conducts and (Irish) comedian Tommy Tiernan narrates Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf.

The second half of the concert: Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.4

Read Programme Notes here

Intro starts at 2' 20'' and the second half (after the interval) starts at 59' 20''

HI CM,
apart from the fact that summer is definitely over here and Sweden is turning wet ,cold and dull with leaden grey skies, I am ok and actually seriously thinking of renewing my passport again to be able to travel a bit in Europe later this fall/winter.
It seems concert venues are opening up for audiences again in many places.
As far as Blomstedt and Bruckner is concerned I forgot to mention that I also have some of his 1970s DENON cds as well.
And yes you are right, they are even better then the more recent ones.
Cheers CC
