Erich Wolfgang Korngold - An Austrian-born composer and conductor. A child prodigy, he became one of the most important and influential composers in the history of Hollywood. Composer John Williams has cited Korngold as his insipiration in scoring the Star Wars series.

His Violin Concerto is not popular but you can hear similarities with Hollywood music.

Played by Stefan Jackiw, violin / Orquesta Sinfonica de RTVE & Carlos Kalmar

00:20 Moderato Nobile, 09:55 Romanze, 18:12 Allegro assai vivace

Good choice. They actually play this on the local classical station quite often. Might have to post some Morricone and Bernard Herrmann soon.

Posting the Korngold Concerto, NOT posting Heifetz... that does puzzle me.

There's also a live performance from 1947 floating around on YT, recorded in Carnegie Hall only weeks after the concerto's world premiere (making it the first ever recording of the piece).

Thanks. The LSO would play it for sure because they recorded a lot of John Williams. But I think it was hard for Korngold after doing movies and falling out of fashion, he was in no man's land. Hopefully more talented musicians like Stefan can champion his music.
