POLL! Best basshead cans! 200$ and below.

The D2000's are usually more than $200, although you can find them used for $200 or a bit less.  The D2000's do have great "basshead" bass but I just sold my them for various reasons.  They leak way too much sound for a closed can, and they have potential sibilance issues usually with poorly mastered recordings.  I replaced them with Beyerdynamic DT770/80 Pro and have been very pleased.  They have basshead bass, no sibilance, and good isolation.  You can definitely find DT770/80 Pro for $200 or less.  They both are very excellent cans.  I haven't had the pleasure of listening to any of the other models.

Anyways, the best seem to be dt990 pros (170$) and mKII - 135

Because dt770 are just "bad" when compared to the dt990 which are the bassiest open headphone ever :)

I just seen D2000's selling for $240 used in the classified section.  Generally it seems D2000's are over $200.   I haven't heard the DT990 Pro but I imagine it would have great bass too.  I just need more isolation.

Actually much cheaper, http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Beyerdynamic-DT-770-PRO-80-Studio-Headphones-/120825538666?pt=DJ_Gear_Lighting&hash=item1c21c3686a#ht_1098wt_1163 145 and like 10 of em selling at 150 on ebay...CHEERS! BUUUUUUUUUUT, if you were to have the dt990 pros, im sure, like many people have said before when comparing the both, that they regret not switching to the 990 pros sooner, the 990 pros seem to have it all, sounstage (hell, they are open!) , the most bass in an open phone right now, quality and clarity, obviously, its just better than the dt770 in every way except isolation, they cost about 175, the con i would say is that impedance, 250ohm makes you have to spend al ittle bit more....

If you need isolation, which i dont since ill be at my room, you'll enjoy the dt770s a lot  :)

So it is decided then, for 175 $, if you want soundstage, great sound quality, most bass available on an open can, AND DONT NEED ISOLATION, get the DT 990 Pros! They seem to be the best ones for the price and quality, they are also really good for gaming, you just need to get a good amp or soundcard.

If you need isolation and want greeeeeeeeat bass, and an upgrade in quality from say the sony xb500's get the dt770s, they are quite nice closed headphones! also 145$ on ebay from trusted sellers.

If you find some specials liek we have selling them for 200 or near that price, but most seem upwards 250 :/ due to demand, but it seems A LOT OF HEAD FIERS love their d2000!

Cheers everyone :D

Well that isn't very fair, the Denons cost double or more than the others on that list. I voted DT770s because they're actually inside the price range specified.

So? They still get an honorable mention, did you see the post above you xD?

I definitely prefer open cans and I wish I could switch, but the wife and kid complain too much of the noise leakage. I've tried 3 open or semi open cans that I loved.  Sennheiser HD650, Beyerdynamic DT 880/250 Premium, and DT990/32 Premium.  I think I preferred the HD650's to them all because they didn't have the any sibilance at all.  I need to try out a pair of DT990/250 Pro.

They are the bassiest of all those you've mentioned, more bassy than most closed cans actually...can't wait till my miles davis tribute's replacement gets here so i can sell it for 220~ and get the dt990pro and a decent amp/dac...any recomendations? Think a fiio e10 would do it? it does have a high gain mode after all, AND bass boost >:)

I've tried all but 780 and Pro700MK2.

The Denon definitely sounds the best out of the bunch for me, but it also is the least basshead worthy.  Make no mistake about its amount of deep bass, but some of those headphones put out more.  The Denons fit and feel the most comfortable out of the bunch for me too (again with the exceptions of the ones I havn't tried)

I'm a big fan of Fiio E7/E9 combo for desktop because it has the power to pretty much power anything.  But I've found that you need a pretty powerful portable amp to properly power 250 ohm headphones.  I use the ALO Rx MKII and it has no problem powering 250 ohm phones.  The Fiio E11 is pretty good, has high gain, bass boost, and has good power but falls short when powering higher ohm loads.  I'm not sure about the E10 but I suspect it would be around the same as the E11 in powering higher ohm loads.

I agree, but I've found the Beyer DT770's to be of equal comfort to the D2000's.  To me the D2000's have an open can sound which explains why they leak so much sound.

Yeah their clamp isn't that tight at all.  I would undoubtedly put the beyers over the D2000 for comfort-- both short term and especially long term, but the earpads of the Denons are a work of art.  Best fit I've ever had.  They make the beyers' fit clumsy.

It's pretty much the same thing except its a DAC too, so its usb and not exactly "portable"
