I just plugged mine into my Shuffle for a quick test. Not too bad but a portable amp would be welcome. Since there are lots of inexpensive portable amps these days to choose from, it shouldn't be that much of an issue. In that price range the DT770 is the bassiest can I know of.

DT 770 PRo isn´t bass monsters. Try AKG K81DJ. WIth it´s bass punch it hits knock out on the DT 770 in the first round

The JVC/Victor HP-FX500 for $146USD shipped is the bass king tbh for quality bass. I'd rather have deep, tight, detailed bass over bloated bass. I very much like my bass.

SEYO-shop.com*»*Headphones*»*JVC-Victor*»*JVC-Victor HP-FX500

and then buy some Koss Silicone Ear Cushions for $5 free ship from Koss.com as the default tips suck in terms of fit + better sounding.

http://www.koss.com/koss/baskets.nsf...agent&ID=KE29S (will slowly load but it'll get there).

Total: $151.37

The big thread on Head-fi: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/v...phones-302873/

TBH also, iPod's tend to be lean on bass compared to other players. These are canalphones however, but canalphones offer much better isolation than full-size headphones.

Trust me, you'll know what good quality bass really is with these. It's got plently of it quantity wise as well but not bloated.

The OP asked in the full size headphones forum. FX500 is IEM.
