I'll check it out, does it work with bandcamp and jriver? Also should I turn bitstreaming on with PBD stuff?

Everything goes to CoreAudio so yes it should work system wide

When it's playing DSD should the red letters read "PLINK IN DSD 2X" or should it read 176.4Khz for the same album. IF I turn on DSD bitstreaming I get the first if I turn it off I get 176.4khz.

Looking into the MPD series as a possible next DAC upgrade and wanted to ask fellow PBD owners some questions:
- It's kinda tricky to find a comparisons between the MPD-6 and MPD-8 online. Apart from better sound, what advantages does the MPD-8 have over the 6?
- I'm also confused about the difference between the MPD series and the MPS series. Both have DACs right? So what's the difference?
- Finally, does the MPS-X option just add streaming to the MPD DACs? Without the MPS-X the only digital input is USB correct?

Thanks!

Haven’t heard the MPD6, but love the MPD8.

MPD is the DAC and the MPS is the streamer/player. MPT is the transport. The MPS-8 has a dac in it but it’s not at the level of the MPD.

The description on each of these is pretty accurate. https://verdantaudio.com/collections/playback-designs

I was asking pretty much the same question and had a nice answer from Andreas himself regarding Dac differences between MPS 6 / MPD 6 and between MPS 8 / MPD 8 :

"The DACs for the MPS-6 and MPD-6 are identical. The ones for the MPS-8 and MPD-8 are not. The MPD-8 is double differential whereas the MPS-8 is single differential. The MPD-8 has separate power supplies and separate PCB's for each output channel, whereas the MPS-8 has single power supply and PCB for both channels".

Unfortunately i need a cd player as i'm still not looking to do demat yet so the price range between MPS 6 and 8 is quite something...

There is an MPD-8 / MPT combo up for sale in NL but still a big chunk of change....
