The vintage Pioneer system is being used for my headphone only setup.
I am using it in conjunction with a Woo Audio WA6SE. It should arrive this weekend.

Nice. I have the SA-8100 and Heresys. Have you had your SA-x100 recapped or updated at all? I'm currently running an NAD amp into my Heresys. I'm planning on picking up a tube amp to drive them, but I wouldn't mind hearing how the Pioneer sounds after a refresh. (The NAD is a bit better right now...but still hard on a lot of recordings)

Kuma, as always, wins.

J.D.N.

A larger Naim kit offers better timing and wider dynamic envelope, but
even a Nait shares the same tune carring ability which is most important.

Enjoy! ( I am sure you are already )

My $20 turntable (jvc5250 bought@CL). I haven't set it up coz I need to replace the belt and I need a phono pre-amp.

Look to me like some sort of dampening device, to minimize vibrations... Good guess?

Using a Hagerman Trumpet phono stage and a speed controller designed by Mark Kelly and built by moi.

My entry level Project took a mid-fi turn recently. Please excuse the crappy pictures:

I'm sure the headphone amp would be better off somewhere else (away from the cartridge) but space is at a premium. Hence when I'm listening to speakers, it's switched off.

System shot:

Despite the look of it, this rack is level. Apparently my picture taking is not! Sony gear is from 10 years ago when they still made decent entry level gear.

My CD player is sadly dead at the moment, so my only digital source is my PC as transport into the minidisc deck. Out of that and the turntable, no prizes for guessing which sounds better...

BIG step up. :) Whether it is performing to it's full potential in my system is debateable, but at this stage I don't really care too much, it sounds so much better than the Ortofon!
