No, no relation. R-DAT uses spinning heads, similar to vcr heads. DCC uses stationary heads like regular cassette decks. The format was developed in the early 90s by Philips and Tandy before recordable cd was available. Didn't catch on. That's probably why you missed it...

Ugh, I don't miss cassettes of any kind. I just look at them and they get eaten by evil players.

Understandable. I just wanted to post something different and relatively rare (much rarer than a Sony D-88, for example).

But if you wouldn't have kept sticking tapes into that "evil" $40 Sanyo, they wouldn't have been eaten in the first place!
