I am curious about those portapros too. They look pretty cool. Are those pads compressed in some way in the second picture?

What i did is The Drag0n-Arse Mod

The bass is tight and punchy. The treble is sharp like the smell of fresh CO2 and the middle is warm and fuzzy

Nah mate they aren't compressed. It's the Senn 212pro cushion on top of the Koss SST/5 (some rare ass koss model). I had no use for both. The modded porta's sounded better then the SST/5 and the 212pro is plain poop.

That's the SST/5 housing. The 60ohm driver just snaps perfectly into it.

They shine. I really like the sound of the Kramer moded porta's with the extra pads. The only thing that is holding them back from being the Perfect Koss portaPro's is that i still haven't found a 75ohm adapter for them..

Drag0n-Arse Mod for the Glory!!

This is due to be upgraded very soon! I am looking for a high capacity dap to add to this mix, likely a 30gb ipod or Zen: Vision.

i def want to order a psp. good library of games, good for video watching, remote play with my ps3, amazing homebrew community, and console emulation

. only thing holding me back is if the rumors of the psp slim are true. i dont want to get stuck with an old psp. i'll wait alittle longer before i pick one up just to be sure, in the meantime i do need a new phone as well as a new harddisk player. hopefully the x7 will be out in a couple of months.

My psp was sold to be substituted by the cowon D2. back then, max resolution on video with original fw was 372x208. battery is terriblem and i prefer DS games as PSP games are more or less remakes. The psp lite sounds nice though

did you find the portapro bass to be muddy before the mod, like many others (me included)? If so, did it better after the mod?

Actually i never had a problem with the stock bass.. I did the Kramer mod for the extra detail. But after hearing the moded version it's hard to go back to stock. It sounds muffled a bit. The pads are all about soundstage and comfyness.
This stuff is made for music!

There's only one thing left. That pansy 75ohm resistor.. ppl swear by it. Gotta find out what's all the fuss

Must have been a firmware issue, as I have outstanding battery life, it rocks video and plays a ton of games, including FF VII. I rarely use it for music, but it does happen occassionally. It fits my needs well.

original firmware does not allow for non sony website sold psx games to be played. i also wouldn't say it rocks for video due to the lack of disk space, and i also don't get the best battery life (but suitable).

Anyone who doesnt use the custom firmware just isnt getting their moneys worth out of the psp IMHO. I play my own ripped PSX games and homebrew far more than I ever played any of the games that are released for the PSP.

I can see shaving your head but modding your head is a little over the top unless you know what you are doing!
