e2cs come with clear flex sleeves and foam tips. the black tips you see pictured are the newer and optional soft-flex sleeves for e2c. Recent e2cs finally come packaged with all three types of tips.

The grey sleeves you speak of are the ones that come with e3c.

Bought the e2cs off a fellow head-fi member. He included the new ultra-soft tips for me. Way better than foamies and regular flex sleeves comfort wise, imo.
