Not sure if this is totally high end, but the sound I get off of both the HD650's and the PS1000's is as good as it gets.

I'm usually using the UDAC - PSU - BUDA - Whiplash Audio TWag V2 - HD650 & PS1000

Might not be the best value ever, but man that stack is sexy in a desk set up.

It's quite funny actually. I think that the Triple Stack doesn't synergies well with the HD650's at all. The bass is the best I've hard on the HD650's, but everything else is very dark and slightly veiled sounding to my ears. But, with the Grado PS1000, it's like a match made in heaven.

Looking good, would have like to hear the sound..:)

This a depends on the headphones you are using, anything in specific?

never heard any of headrooms stuff, but i have read somewhere around here that it is supposed to be a darker sounding amp. guess it might be too veiled with the hd 800 while it helps tame some of the highs on the ps1000.

ps1000 is still the next can on my list, as soon as i get a job...

The Grado PS1000 + BUDA - UDAC - PSU is a match made in heaven. The bass is perfect, the highs are smooth, and the midrange is very seductive. Yes, it's a dark amp, but it may well be the best combination virtually available for the Grado PS1000.

^ might be good for some of the lower grados like the 325 too.

awesome headphone, lacks some bass, needs slightly less highs since they can be very sharp at times.

It calms and completes those attributes perfectly.

You missed the, "The speakers are now PSB Imagine Mini (run off the Marantz 2240 receiver - not high end)."

I would sell of your gear to fund a Playback Device DAC or SACD/DAC. You are missing out with the PWD (good, but not good enough)

i've not heard about 'Playback Device DAC or SACD/DAC'. i googled it and came up empty.

do you by chance mean 'Playback Designs' not 'Playback Device'? i own the Playback Designs MPS-5 myself and love it. i use it as a digital disc player and server dac.

Rearranged again a few days before we start moving stuff into the new place. This will allow me to walk pretty far while I pack and listen. It's also kind of cool having it set up on top of my CDs and vinyl. Makes it feel more cozy.

Looking forward to your HD800 impressions.

Better shot of mine.
