i'm deciding on which ones to buy.
i want a strong rich bass but at the same time being able to hear individual instruments without them being overpowered (in other words good hi's as well as lows and some mids for vocals), noise canceling, no leakage, good mic, and it has to be durable
i mainly listen to rap, hip hop, rock, techno, and dubstep.
i'm asking you guys cause you guys no sound and music
soooo which ones should i get?

If you mean the original Crossfade, the bass is significantly weightier than in newer models I believe. It's not to a point where it makes you feel like the music is being distorted, but it's something to keep in mind. I own the originals and got a fair amount of use out of them. They're nice headphones - comfort is fair, isolation is as well, and the durability is not a problem. For the music genres you listed, I believe they would be a good fit, and I would feel comfortable recommending these for <$100.
 
If you have a big head or large ears, you may want to reconsider these headphones - as a person with a large noggin, I have to expand them all the way to get a decent fit. If my head was any larger, the headphones would be extremely uncomfortable. While I do not have the large ear problem, people have mentioned that for some it's more of an on-ear headphone. I imagine comfort would be blah there as well.
 
I tried the Uptowns and was not completely blown away. The cable is a major sticking point on the Uptowns for me personally. The pair I used had fairly significant clamping force that made them uncomfortable to wear for long, but that could just be the one I demoed as I've heard fairly positive things about their comfort level from others. I would consider the Downtowns (which I much preferred, and it doesn't hurt that they're $50 cheaper MSRP) as well if you're looking to go this route.

i'm starting to lean more toward the uptowns. but how are the bass? i heard they're moderate. i listen to a lot of bass heavy music so i need the bass to have a presence without being too overpowering though

That's basically how I would describe the bass on the Uptowns. However, it must be noted that the Uptowns did not clamp very hard on my head so I didn't quite get a full seal. As a result, I probably heard less bass than someone with a stronger clamp/seal would. In other words, take my word with a grain of salt, and your mileage may vary. I have an average size head.
 
I found the Uptowns to be very comfortable, good looking, and good sounding. The cable, specifically the volume control, should be taken into consideration. It's the one unfortunate drawback. There are issues with channel imbalance if it's not in the right position. I used a piece of electrical tape to help hold it in place.

i bought the uptowns and i can't feel the bass presence. i tried different sources music and just simply can't feel it. right now i'm chalking it up to them not being burn-in yet but i've been using em for a couple of days and don't feel too satisfied with them on the bass part. vocals sound clear, i love the seal, they are super comfortable but that is the part i'm not enjoying of these headphones lack of bass.
