I've used mine for probably 70 hours now and no change. Just enjoy them.

So I continue to be intensely impressed with my 9500s. I've been switching back and forth between my AD900X and these and I just really can't pick a favorite...

The 9500 has such a clean, pure, realistic sound, with a little wider image and the decay is spot on.

The 900x keeps me coming back for some reason. The highs are a little lest strident and more pure. Strings and vocals sound more beautiful and forward. Not as wide, but deeper. There's a tiny bit less realism, but more natural weight and air. The decay is a little slower, but it feels so damn good.

My girlfriend and I keep trading back and forth and she can't decide either. One does one thing better, the other excels at something else. Good problem to have, I guess.

i see that the 9500 are 32 ohms,i have the Grados 80e 32 ohms, and the Grado`s sound more loud than the 9500,if i connect the 9500 to my ipod i have to raise the volume to almost 80%,on the Grados on 40% the volume is fine.

Yeah, impedance is not indicative of volume. Other things like cable material, sensitivity, drivers, etc. factor in as well. For instance, my AD900X is 38Ω vs the 9500's 32Ω. The 900X is about 3 ticks louder though. The 9500s aren't hard to drive by any means, but I do think a little boost from an amp does them well.

Also, if you already love the 9500s maybe you don't need the 900X. They're different but they're on the same level and pretty close. Or maybe you can get both and then you and your girlfriend both have nice cans... to listen to I mean...

ahh ok some people say that cable cable doesn't make any difference in sound, but im going to order the v-moda mic and the vmoda audio only cable or the Honeywell A3
cable, well if the 9500 and the 900X are on the same level thank for letting me know.you make me save some cash,my girlfriend like to wear in ear or ear buds, better for me

9500 is an amazing headphones. Techanically, it cannot catch up to 598. But I like the sound of 9500 much than 598. I just feel odd for myself. :)

I feel the same way. I've never really understood why the 598 is still recommended so highly these days. I thought the AD900X blew away the 598 and the 9500 might even have cleaner sound than the AD900X. Of course, it's all just personal preference, but sometimes popular cans like the m50 and 598 make me feel like I have weird ears for not liking them as much as the masses.

Yeah, the reason I keep going back and forth is because they're both so good in their price range and both have their own strengths and weaknesses. If I had to pick one for someone to listen to, I'd probably just say whichever you can get cheaper, and the 9500 was almost 1/3 the price.

If you wanted to really move up you'd have to get into the $300-$400 range. Almost 5x the price of the 9500.

598s do have much better soundstage, imaging than 9500. But not as euphonic as 9500.

That's a fair point. One area I did enjoy the 598s was imaging. I think the 9500 makes up for it with separation and layering, but the image isn't always perfect. I do find the soundstage more pleasant than the 598s though. Better width with not too much difference in depth. Height is well done with the 9500 as well.
