I got the SHP9600 to try. It sound pretty good! I actually enjoy it much better than the SHP9500 due to its less treble energy and smoother sound. The details are all still there but unlike the SHP9500, it is less fatiguing to me.

Are the stock pads any better? The stock pads on the 9500 were not good.

I think it is better. I had the SHP9500 a few years ago but had no issues with pad though.

No it said "purchase separately" inside the bracket of the 4.4mm adapter

Oh, like in the other language at the bottom? If so, I didn’t realize that because I don’t know what that said

I love that "purchase separately" thing.

I imagine this ad...

ACME CARDIAC PACEMAKER -- the Clear Choice for Controlling Arrythmias

(battery purchased separately)

The surgeon doesn't read the small print...what a mess

Some assembly required haha

Seriously? That's insane.. Why even mention it to begin with then? #fail

Gotta hand it to Philips, they made a beautiful looking headphone. I hope the X3 sounds great. There's a lot of competition in its price range. And the SHP9600 looks to be matched against the 58X. This could either really shake things up in a fun way, or just be another blip.
