Philips Fidelio X2?!

The older velvet ones (the ones that the dye would stain paper) weren't necessarily more comfortable, it's just the sound signature was better from my tests.

They gave the impression of having slightly better resolution & gave more/tighter bass.

The new pads are thicker & the velour material looks different as well.

...Are they comfortable? I do plan on changing the earpads though, so can the earpads on these headphones easily be changed for these Brainwavz ones? Or is it a struggle...

....about the comfort and the ear pads, they are really comfortable out of the box but I did switch to the red version of the HM5 pads you linked to. I like the fit to my ear better, and the bass is just a bit improved. It isn't the easiest swap to do as there is some stretching of the pads, but it isn't the most difficult HM5 swap I've done either. (That honor goes to the Sennheiser HD-569). I'll take some pictures later today, when I get a chance, of my X2's with the HM5 pads.

Here are the pics of my X2 with the HM5 pads.

Apart from cables (obviously) and replacement pads, I haven't found anything you can replace for the X2. And the replacement pads are also not provided by Philips, you gotta find some third-party ones for that.

Yep, the X2's are great, for sure.  I got the M50 AFTER the X2, thinking there was something to them.  I was surprised and sold them quickly.  The X2 is uber-comfortable, too!  Its little brother, the L2 mk II is very awesome as well.  Much more fun than the HD598; different.

I'm talking about the headphones: X2, not the amp.  Sorry for any confusion!  I was referencing a post a while back that I didn't realize that I should've quoted instead of replied. But, I'm sure the L2 would go great with almost anything.

Guys, this is kind of odd, but I bought one around the start of January, and got he box. It said 2014 Gibson, but on my headband it says Woox. I am not really sure if I got the right one. I saw on page 572 that someone had a similar experience.

Is my pair right? everything is fine?

Regards!

WOOX Innovations, formerly owned by Philips, has been bought out by Gibson. So there is no contradiction if both brand names are present.

It always says Woox on the headstrap, regardless of manufacturer. It's the name on the bottom of the box that counts.
