Maybe I'll have to get an early Christmas gift for myself!

HD650 is boring. You'll miss X2.

Nah, I think I'll enjoy the hd650. Really enjoy my hd595 ive had for years. Though I may have to add the X2 back into my collection too.

You won't be disappointed. What music styles do you like?

Symphonic metal
Synth wave
Ambient
Symphony orchestra

Probably others I forgot to mention, it should all be in my profile.

Right now I've got a modi/magni, though I'm looking to get a tube sometime within the next year or so.

Would these be fun sounding headphones for classical music ? My favourite cans are Sennheiser HD800, Ultrasone Signature Pro, Hifiman HE-560. I have tried and enjoyed NAD Viso HP50s, Beyerdynamic T1s and Beoplay H6s. I disliked Audeze LCD3s, Oppo PM-1s and 2s, as well as Sennheiser HD580s.The latter were too dark or closed-in sounding for my tastes. I like detail and neutrality, but appreciate different flavours in sound.

@gammarayson

While I unfortunately cannot answer your question because I own all of two classical pieces and have never listened to either through my X2s, I just wanted to thank you for your post. Every time someone name drops $1,500 cans while showing interest in some of my absolute ("cheap") favorites it makes me feel like a slightly less inadequate Head-Fi'er.

Yes. X2 is good for classical. It has large soundstage and nice bass. That makes orchestras sound really nice. X2 doesn't have the naturalness of HE-560, HD800 or or T1 but is nonetheless a really nice headphone.

You have good taste in music, mang. Kamelot is wonderful. The world needs more Roy Khan.
