For now I just use an elastic band, the included cinch is cumbersome to use and on the tight side, I fear it could scrape the fabric of the cable. Now if only I could find a BLACK elastic band... (=

How is the sub bass compared to the X1? I don't find the X1's getting as low as the DT990's. DT990's picked up 20hz-40hz with ease. I can't seem to hear, feel, or notice and 20-30hz frequencies with the X1's.

In addition to answer responses you may get from owners outside of NA, check out the comparison graphs that show frequency response curves for X1 & X2 earlier in this thread. Note also that open cans with dynamic drivers tend to roll off in the sub bass region.

I seen the graphs. The X2's show the lower frequencies higher than the X1's, but many people are saying the X2's have less bass. Even though the X2's show higher db all the way up to 100hz for bass. :\

Yep, that's why I used "tend" as there are some exceptions. Yet, if sundown reviews the graphs they'll highlight that X2 does exhibit the roll off in the sub bass.

I'd prefer you get more feedback from owners of them, but I'll just note that the adjacent midrange region is more closely balanced with respect to the bass octaves on X2. So, listener may perceive less pronounced bass on X2. Relativity ...

Forget about sub-bass on the X2 (especially if you didn't feel anything on the X1).

On a separate note, for anyone having lower treble issues, you may want to try flattening out the headband while pinching the cups in to give a less harsher sound. I get the distinct feeling that Philips' decision to use a larger headband (and so the resulting angle at which it rests on head) is a major contributing factor in this spike which was causing quite a few wincing moments that I never had with the X1. I'm speculating guys with laterally wide heads would be immune to this.

Still not entirely happy with the reduced dynamic range of them (relative to X1's) but between the now smoother treble and not having any takers in the FS section for almost two weeks, I think I can safely withdraw them and see if the rumoured new pads come to fruition.
