Philips A5-PRO "Armin Van Buuren Collaboration" (Owners and impressions)
Dec 26, 2014 at 7:32 AM Post #121 of 528
A5 is a damn good headphone. Bass goes deep with a lot of grunt but stays out of the way of the midrange. Think of an M50x without the mid dip and much more energy.

Your post got my attention... Can you please compare A5Pro with your MT220?

My apologies. I meant the A3 not the A5. Difficult to get ahold of the A5, for some reason. AmUK will ship the A3 but not the A5.

Interesting, haven't heard much of the A3 yet but A3 is really cheap over here in Finland compared to A5. Would you say A3 has stronger bass than M50x? I've tested M50 but the bass didn't quite satisfy my needs in it due to it being a little bit too impactless.

Bump!

I really,  really want these cans! A5PRO

I've been digging around online to try and buy them.

Ebay = $385 - $499 shipped from Hong Kong

On Ebay Completed sales, they have sold for as cheap as $191 ...
ph34r.gif

Amazon USA is price gouging @ $529-$789

Amazon.co.uk has fair pricing @ £202-£244 which converts to $238-$291 but neither will ship to the US!

Only other site I found from the UK that will ship to US wants $356

Reviews state they where selling for much cheaper on Armada site, but I'm guessing they quickly sold out...

Errr!!!

when I see the A5 I think X2 Closed back!!!

If anyone can help me pin this down I really appreciate it!

I realized pretty quickly they have some sketchy feed back

Great collection hi5 :)

Looking forward to see your impressions especially comparisons with the headphones on the left hand side of A5Pro!

But first please burn the A5Pro. Out of the box I found it slightly muddy. After burn in it sounds very very good.

Good idea, should be an interesting battle

No worries on the Burn in, I've been a true believer of burn in since the 90's

I think anyone who has spent some real hands on time with some proper full size speakers should easily understand the properties of burn in....

For headphone burn in it's just on a smaller scale.

Why Burn in is even still a debate baffles the mind...

I value your insight and continued contribution to the Forum.

This is the 2nd HP that I've purchased as a direct result to that information

A5Pro box includes only one pair of earpad. But 3 different models have been produced for this headphone.
