what company makes the PAV2 amp. sorry im a noob. is there a link to their website. i hear it pairs well with the beyerdynamic dt770/80.

The maker is Gary Ali.. A really nice chap.. He sells them for 60.00..But you can bid on them for cheaper on ebay. Just do a search on ebay..

tube or solid state?

For SS portables I'd recommend the portaphile V2 or the orginal masters for the price you gave. Both are great in the bass area IMO. & the DT70 are bass heavy.
