Alright, so if I use the Dragonfly Red for its DAC and feed it to a dedicated headphone amp to get enough power for hard-to-drive headphones, is that going to cause problems with double amping. I know Audioquest claims the DFR has a line-out mode if you crank the volume to 100%, but I don't see how that could logically solve any distortion issues that result from double amping. Has anyone else tried this? If so, how did it work out? Impressions? Thoughts?
The reason I ask:
I own a Dragonfly Red and my headphones are AKG K7xx. I'm waiting for Sennheiser hd650's to arrive. I figure both of these headphones will need slightly more power than the Dragonfly Red can provide on its own, but I love the DAC in the Dragonfly Red, so I'm looking for a separate amp I can pair with the Dragonfly Red to ensure my headphones are getting the power they need, but while still making use of the amazing DAC in the Dragonfly Red.
