"Your name, the model name and the serial number are written inside the case. Like I said above as well, there’s an original copy of the FR Graph, a specific measurement for your monitors only."

Your review is missing a big piece of the puzzle - the frequency graph. Would be great if you could update it.
Ah, good point. I added into the review, thanks for the heads up.

Much thanks :)

Here are my early impressions of the SH-3 Universals after 3-4 days of ownership.

The SH-3 measures very much like a reference IEM. 2k, 4k and 8k peaks etc. The sound signature (in terms of FR) overall is slightly bass boosted. The perceived sound for me is neutral..Treble is slightly bright, but nowhere near ER4SR bright.

Compared to ER4SR, the timbre is more natural sounding. I find that it's FR is close to being colored whilst still remaining neutral. Note weight is heavier (which is better) but not overpowering. Due to the bass boost from 20Hz to 1000Hz, vocals are sweeter and and more life-like than the ER4SR which measures extremely flat from 20Hz to 1000Hz.

The main issue with the SH-3 from general opinion is that the bass is the only limiting factor. While the bass does not measure anywhere bassy, the quality of bass is lacking...common BA issue. The other issue is that the imaging is not very precise. You know where the sounds are coming from. You just cannot very accurately pinpoint the location. The sound is "bigger". To some extent it faces the same problem as the Legend X.

In terms of staging, this is where the SH-3 shines. Sounds are all very well separated and layered. Plenty of headroom too. It's incredibly easy to make out the location of the instruments and how far spaced they are away from each other in genres like rock and metal.

For the price I think it's very well performing. It doesn't have the sheer resolution the TOTLs have, but its resolution and detail is very respectable.

Overall a nice purchase considering I went in blind. I prefer it a lot over other reference monitors (Etys, inear PP8 etc).

Might consider a CIEM version down the line.

I love my pp8 especially the bass. Could you please compare them further?

PP8 has a darker treble compared to SH-3. I'd say the darker treble is what makes PP8 truly neutral/reference for my own ears. I can't comment too much on bass. Need more listening time on the PP8 to makebetter comparisons.

In terms of timbre PP8 has very reference, studio like sound. Think ER4SR but even colder and more analytical. PP8 is generally regarded as very "dead" and having a lack of dynamics. But it is what it is, a true reference iem.

On the other hand, SH-3 has more of a natural sound compared to PP8. Heavier note weight while not sounding too overwhelming and bloated. Things sound warmer throughout when compared.

Would also like to add that tips do change the sound a fair bit. Upon using a longer tip (meaning deeper fit), the sound became less warm, more trebly (still nowhere piercing/bright) and most importantly, the imaging issue I described above was gone. The default stock tips were horribly short and were barely longer than the nozzle. The resulting sound is now more in line with the FR measurements.

Looking forward to tip roll with them more. Going to try them with spiral dots and spinfits in the future. But currently it seems that tips with a deeper insertion as well as a bore as large as the nozzle seems to result in the most accurate sound.

Indeed. Try them with some Spiral Dots. They seem to react quite a lot with tip rolling and DAP rolling. Very fun to create different synergies with.

My take on the PEARS SH-3 from Switzerland! :flag_ch:

An outstanding IEM with a highly musical sound.

Review on my site & Head-Fi.

Been thinking of throwing in a review as well. This iem deserves praise in terms of its timbre. Vocals are a joy to listen to especially when the vocals are placed slightly forward.

Only qualm of mine is the lack of subbass extension. Wish there was more rumble in the background...the bass does sound a little limp sometimes when I place it next to my EX800ST. Then again there's only so much one can do with 3 BA drivers. I'd say the people behind PEARS have done a great job with only 3 drivers.

Since SH3 is a nice iem, I do wonder what SH2 is capable of. Perhaps even future iems the company will come out with.

Maybe you can try a different cable to boost the lows. Generally, BA drivers can't replicate what dynamic drivers can produce. For me, I find the depth to be closed in. The vocals are really nice. Cheers!

Time to reactivate this topic instead of creating a new one.

I visited the premises of P-EAR-S Audio last Friday. I spent the whole afternoon with the guys, talking about sound, technology, music and most importantly what they are on. I also tested their 3 IEMS, the SH-2, the SH-3 and their last entry, the UT-3 along with the UT-125 interface, which allows you to fine-tune your sound signature.

My UT-3 should arrive at the beginning of April, I will report my first impressions after a few days, even if I already know that they sound incredible after having tested them with my sources.

Stay tuned, because P-EAR-S is about to update their website. It will be a massive improvement. The guys take their time and rightly so, "Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano"

You have seen me talk about the SH3 universal more than a year back. I've since sold the universal and went looking a year for another reference monitor. Couldn't find anything I really liked so I bought it again. This time in custom so I would have it forever.

My local dealer recently got PEARS under their curation and I managed to compare the universal to my custom, side by side. The custom has a fuller, more natural (warm) low end and has smoother highs. The difference in isolation between the custom and universal is really quite staggering.

I also got to try the SH2. I'd describe SH2 as a moderately warm, a bit uppermid range recessed monitor while SH3 is a little less warm with an uppermid lift. SH3 definitely has the edge with its transients here - edging the SH2 out with harder, faster and more dynamic transients.

Seriously excited with the next SH and the UT125 if I can get to try it. :)
