Oriolus Traillii Electrostatic Hybrid IEM discussion thread

I would like to ask a little question to all of you who own Traillii: Another iem (except Jewel) that has a sound setup very similar to Traillii, what could it be? The important thing is that it does not deviate much from the sound philosophy that Traillii has and that it still maintains a very high quality. If it also had a DD for the low range it would be even better .... Have you heard anything that could be close to what I have described?

This should be it. The MS series. That's roughly the sale price I bought it for over a year ago so maybe it's usually on sale.

Nice looking cables, I've often come close to buying a Cema cable as I've read several great reports like yours.

I recently bought the Penon OSG which has been on Jewel since, a beautiful cable and looks similar to that Cema MS - OSG more expensive though at $299. I must try it on Traillii.

You are finding the Traillii and Jewel to be complementary, right?

Yes very much so - I finally have little or no urge to even try anything else in the higher end brackets! Focus now is more on experimenting with cables.

I'll look up where you elaborated on this.

I have an 8w silver juggles cable waiting for the Jewel. It's lonely because the Nio has paired up with the UTWS5.. 😊

I think I did in the Watercooler, I'll check rather than type again :)

Yeah I'll probably buy a Juggles cable soon, I liked the Cardas a lot when I briefly tested with Jewel. Plussound Hybrid+ also very much on my radar. I'm interested how either might sit in the chain along with LPGT... which is wonderful with both Jewel and Traillii.

I found the Monarch mkii impressive for 900.00 with discount ). I like it more or less equal to the U12T and another user got one as he did not want to spend for the Traillii. Just a thought if you wanted to go less expensive.

Thanks for the advice ..... it is not a problem of price but only of quality and sound philosophy.

Just know the Monarch Mk II is a huge IEM
Most people have fit issues with this pair
I think there is or was one listed for $ 835.00 a few days ago
Now sound is a personal thing for all of us ...

In that case, my top IEM’s would be:

- Traillii with Orpheus ( I like it with the base cable as well ).
- Jewel with Chiron ( this is what I used )
- UM Red Halo/Le Jardin. ( a vocal specialist )
- QDC Anole VX with Orpheus. Here the Orpheus cable really tames the highs a bit and shows the quality of the mids, bass and details.

I’m not sure how others compare the Traillii and the Jewel, but I hear the Jewel as more W, doing everything well with a DD bass. Traillii is musical, slightly more coloured with more ‘emotions’

It’s more complimentary for me rather than one or the other

I struggle a little with this concept of complementarity. No two IEMs are the same but does that mean they are complementary? In order to be that they have to be really different IMO, like an EVO and a U12T. Are Traillii and Jewel variations on a theme, in which case I’ll choose one or the other, or really very different? I guess I’ll find out soon. I would love to see a graph again of these two, but the Jewel isn’t in crin’s database.

better to try both out. Complimentary also means different things to different ears. General consensus is that between Traillii and Jewel, it is close enough to only own 1. For me I find value in having both. I only know a couple of others who keeps both
