Oriolus Traillii Electrostatic Hybrid IEM discussion thread

Yes it is, I remember seeing @LabelH trying out the cable with the bird and it makes the bird look tiny.

There isn't a much discussions about pairing Rhapsodio cables with the bird though.
I tried Evo Hybrid and Evo Silver previously in short time. While i like Silver over Hybrid, I feel synergy isn't really match compare to stock cable for my taste.
Evo Hybrid sound neutral/very little colouration, Evo Silver sound fun, have treble energy, more affordable.

On the other hand, I wonder if anyone has tried Beat Audio Orbit Saga (same tech with Astrolab) 7,2k cable for flexing?
The model is not listed on the website, but if you order in shop, they can order it.

As I was telling @bluestorm1992, definitely want to try the Traillii off the M30 this weekend. It is lovely combination. Definitely scales up and great synergy. Sonic bliss on a rainy Saturday evening here.

Back on the LP6 with the bird before I crash. Listening to Eva Cassidy and Fields of Gold. It is in simple 16 bit ALAC format. Yet the playback on the LP6 and the Traillii is so organic, so realistic. :)

I already did it. Spent tons on my 2 Channel and full size cans… Not sure if they’re better than the Bird though.

Here’s a sneak peak of my systems:

Nice. What speakers are the floorstanders? Also what electronics are you using?

From the pictures you are definitely into audio. My advice, get the bird and get the L&P W2 (only a couple of hundred dollars). You will love it. The Kef LS50’s do not produce an especially deep soundstage in most setups, so I do not see you disliking the bird.

Once you get it, I would love to hear your comparisons of it to the Abyss 1266 phi TC ( I assume you have the TC?). Enjoy.

I forgot to add, the Traillii will blow away the Fourte. I have both and like the Fourte, but the bird is in another league.

What music do you listen to most? Tks.

Thanks. The floorstanders are KEF Reference 5. I also have both OG LS50 as near field and LS50 Meta in my studio.

Electronics:
Headphones’ rig: Lumin U1 (with X1 power supply) -> Innuos Phoenix -> Hugo TT2 / M-scaler or Holo May KTE -> RAAL HSA-1b / Woo Audio WA33 / SPL Phonitor X -> Utopia/ 1266 TC / SR1a / ZMF VC / Stellia / Susvara and a few others not worth mentioning.

Speakers’ rig: Innuos Zenith MK3 -> Innuos Phoenix -> Dave / M-Scaler -> (also have the Lumin X1 streamer that replaces all the upstream gear above when I’m too lazy to turn all those components ON) -> Balanced Audio Technology VK33SE Pre-amp -> Primaluna Evo 400 Power amps (2x) for Mid-Hi + SPL S800 power amps (2x) for bass in dual bi-amp mode -> KEF Reference 5

Hahaha I’m astonished that you asked to compare the bird to the 1266 TC. Those IEMs must be special.

I’m not sure in which setups you heard the LS50s but the soundstage they project is impressive when properly setup, away from the walls, sitting on some good stands and connected to a great subwoofer. Near-field usage is a bit pointless to get the desired soundstage as everything is narrow and close - I only those when not in the mood to have anything on my head / in my ears.

I actually didn’t like the Fourté Noir (sold them) but truly enjoy the OG Fourté, I’m one of the few who enjoy its tonality. I find it impressive in the soundstage department as well.

I also enjoy the EE Odin but it lacks character, other than the impressive bass, I find it a bit soulless - it’s just almost perfectly neutral which can become boring on longer listening sessions. The soundstage is deep but not as wide as I would have liked it to be.

I listen to a whole lot of genres, almost everything except classical (my ears are not finessed enough to get properly engaged with the genre) with the same frequency/rotation - it just depends on my mood. Not one particular genre gets most of my time…Hard to list them all.

If it wasn't for Odin's harsh upper mids, I would've kept it solely for Classical and Jazz as that monitor really soars there, but those upper mids gave me a literal headache.

I personally don’t find the Odin’s upper mids as harsh or shouty, sometimes they ride on the edge of becoming shouty on some poorly recorded/mastered stuff.

The drawback of the upper mids for me is the forward presentation for both vocals and instruments which seems to shrink the soundstage width. I actually like forward vocals but I think that instruments need to take a back seat.

I am just sensitive to that region of the FR on all monitors. If its emphasized I have to stay away, hence the selling of my Crassi. Its less than Odin but still emphasized. Although its the best BA response in timbre I have heard. Violins and strings of any kind are stunning with the Crassi.

Man I wish I was allowed to talk about the second thing I'm cooking up :D

funnily I really dislike the Odin for Jazz and classical - it’s just a bit boring. Piano is the exception however where the timbre and weight of note is sublime.

My favourite use for the Odin is ambient and electronic - in small doses especially with brighter tracks. The Bird comes close - mainly due to not being fatiguing but I rank the Odin higher

Just found this gem, Maori Metal:
Soundstage in the beginning just goes on and on!

Back on the LP6 for some vintage acoustic vocals from Emi Fujita. Such magical listening. Other than the soundstage and timbre of the instruments, I did not quite expect the vocals to be so expressive and nuanced.
